I understand that Artisteer noew exports into Themler, awesome!

But is the following possible? ...In one way or another without manually adding the content to every single page of the new design?

Background... The way i work with clients who have existing websites.

  1. I developed site in Artisteer, add existing client content, then exported the Theme and content into Wordpress.
  2. Client then takes on editing and updating of site with ourselves providing regular training & support.

Now i want to develop new sites in Themler for same clients using their existing content as per their latest Wordpress site.

  1. So is there a way to import the Artisteer theme and/or the WP website content back into Artisteer before then exporting the entire website (and content back) into Themler?

If not what is the easiest method of doing this?

All help appreciated.

Hi,

What is your final goal? The new WP installation with the old content and new Themler theme or what? Themler works on the real website with existing content. There is no need to import content into Artisteer theme and them convert all these to Themler theme because Themler theme uses existing website content. You just need to move the content to the new website and install Themler theme.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hi Olivia,

My final goal is simply to understand and action the process of conversion WRT.

  1. Take an existing Wordpress site with all its content intact and pull it into Themler for editing so that i can re-design the look and feel.

I think you are suggesting i do not need to go via Artisteer i simply need to install Themler into my clients Wordpress site?

and

  1. Take an existing HTML site and do the same.

I am hoping that by following this process thru I will get a better idea of how working with Themler can help me build a different type of site to my old Artisteer sites.

NB:
I think i grasp what you are saying, i need to study more and do some tests.

Q's
Is this feature safe enough to work with live sites or should i create a new WP install and do all my testing there, just in case i corrupt the existing site!

Also to help me choose the best path of action can you give me a link to the correct page in the manual so that I am starting from a point of the bigger picture.

Also are there any you tube video instructions on how to work in this area of themler?

Thanks
Andy

Hi,

Yes, you do not need Artisteer, just install Themler theme on the live site and it will automatically show the site content in the application where you will be able to work with it. Note, that when you edit the content of the site in Themler, it is converted into the shortcodes and you won't be able to edit it in the visual editor of the WP back end any more.

Take an existing HTML site and do the same.

This is a different case. You cannot import the HTML site inside Themler. If you have the .artx file of that site, then you can export it from Artisteer into the Themler HTML format and then import in Themler. After that you can install it on your hosting and run the Themler editor online from your HTML site. It is explained here:
http://answers.themler.io/categories/23354/html-themes

As for the documentation, here is all we have:
http://answers.themler.io/Doc/Index

Some articles include the videos. I assume that you will get it while working with Themler. For the first time you can create a copy of your site and try Themler there in order not to affect the live site while learning. Or you can also install the Themler desktop application and work with the localhost on your computer.

Sincerely,
Hella

I followed your instructions and uploaded a blank Theme into WP.
I.E.
blank_themler_wordpress_theme.zip

But then on attempting a live preview i get the message 'Customising this theme is not allowed' and although the preview behind that message has the content of course it's not yet formatted. I think i am grasping at straws here trying to understand how best to actually use the program to save time moving forward and minimise the learning curve, without havingh to keep asking you guys questions every time i try to fathom out how you intend for Web designers to use Themler!

Do you have some simple basic instructions i can follow, so that I can work out how to use Themler with Wordpress for improving existing client designs.

Is there someone i can talk to on Skype who will do a live demo to get me started with Themler. I amsure all my questions have simple answers but the online manual is sadly lacking at explaining how to get started.

I think the biggest problem with Themler is actually getting started!

Hope you can help quickly I only have a few days spare to attempt to get Themler working for our clients before i will have to go back to Artisteer and/or worse switch to Duda or TemplateToaster or something else like Divi or something.

Still trying to keep the faith.
:-)

Thanks

HI,

Please refer to the following instructions on how to run Themler on the site:
http://answers.themler.io/articles/3626/how-to-use-wordpress-theme

Looks like you are opening the Customizer. Themler theme cannot be edited in Customizer, you need to run the Themler editor from the Themler tab inside your admin panel.

Unfortunately we do not provide any other type of support other than in this support panel, but feel free to ask any questions. Also other users could help you.

Sincerely,
Hella

Okay i am still struggling with this. I followed the instructions and read ALL help files and forums and watched videos!

But i get this message!
"...Customizing this theme is not allowed..."

So frustrating i just cannot get started with Themler, no wonder i gave up last year. What am i doing wrong?

  1. I have latest versions of all software.
  2. I export "Themler for Wordpress" from Themler desktop version.
  3. I upload that into my Wordpress install from the admin menu.
    NB:
In Wordpress i have a site designed in Artisteer and it has content in it.
  4. I click on preview new theme and i get this message!

"...Customizing this theme is not allowed..."

Please can we get a Webinar on how to do the basics and get started with Themler... Or can i get some telephone support?
Please!

Hi,

The preview option opens the theme in Customizer that cannot be used for Themler themes as I have explained before. To edit the theme in Themler you need to make it an active site theme and then use the Themler tab in the WP side panel menu. That will open Themler editor.

Sincerely,
Hella

Thanks prompt reply appreciated. That has moved me forward.

Is there any advantage to editing client sites inside Wordpress, or is it better off done on the desktop version.

The reason i ask is because...

  1. I have some suspicion that if i edit the site structure or clients content in Wordpress the product cannot then be edited in by the client as it will be converted to Bootstrap.

  2. Therefore i effectively lose my white label own brand or i lose.

  3. My clients opportunity to edit his website using the Wordpress CMS?

Basically i am just trying to understand the best way to work with Themler to ensure i keep to True White Label Reseller web solution.

NB:
For my first batch of client sites i would need to convert the clients website layout, data and content from Wordpress Artisteer into Themler.

Or perhaps i could strip out the content from Artisteer and then convert that over to Themler. And then add the content back in.

What do you think which is the quickest/safest process?

Or is it better that i just create a new theme in Themler and start from scratch. And if so is it best to work with the Desktop version on my PC or work online within Wordpress?

Thanks

Hi,

As I understand, you have Artisteer project with the content you installed on remove WordPress, right? And you want to convert all these to Themler theme? In general, if you convert the theme without content and install the converted theme on the website with an old Artisteer content the content will look the same with both Artisteer and Artisteer theme converted to Themler.

You can also convert The whole theme with content to Themler theme with data and then install this theme on the WordPress installation where you want to create the new website.

I suggest that you start with Themler Desktop to understand how Themler works with existing websites and content. Themler Desktop is a webserver with ready CMS with sample content.

If you want to experiment with existing website I suggest that you start with converting theme without content. In this case the content will be untouched and you will see how it looks with the new Themler theme.

And if so is it best to work with the Desktop version on my PC or work online within Wordpress?

There is no difference. As mentioned above, Themler Desktop is just a webserver with CMS installations. Therefore you can work with Themler Desktop, own local CMS installation or on the remote server with the same result.

Please note that unlike Artisteer Themler works on the real CMS with its real content. Themler does not create CMS content. It is simply allows to edit existing CMS content and export theme with this content in order to import it on the new website.

Please keep us posted about the progress.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hi Olivia,

VERY URGENT... Okay i have made some progress this week and now have the whole weekend to see if i can make this work. Please correct my plan below, if i am misunderstanding the way Themler works

But before i take the next step I want to share my understanding of your support emails and the help files i have read as advised.

But first, clarification of what i am hoping to achieve. I want to take a an existing Artisteer - Wordpress website and convert to Themler - Wordpress, including all content. It is very important that afterwards the client can edit the website using Wordpress as he used to with the Artisteer version.

So i think the quickest way to achieve this with the best result is as follows.

  1. Open the ORIGINAL ARTISTEER theme in ARTISTEER. Delete all the clients content that i added to the .HTML and Wordpress version of the website, so that i am just left with the Artisteer theme shell.

  2. Export the design as a Wordpress Theme.
    or

  3. Export this as a Themler theme.

    • WITH NO CONTENT other than menus and layout, etc.
  4. Open Themler on my Desktop. Edit the theme to take advantage of advances in Themlers features. So improve the old design.

NB: There are lots of pages, lots of content and multiple menus, etc.

    1. Upload the new theme from themler into wordpress.

    2. Activate the newly designed Themler theme in Wordpress Admin and import the OLD content from the old Artisteer theme into the new theme.

    3. Check it works.

End result to be a similar colour scheme and layout but with some of the new Themler features integrated.

Client should be able to easily edit his website content and pictures using the Wordpress back end?

Please confirm this all makes sense.

Thanks
Pixie

Hi,

You need to create the clients site on the new WP installation or redesign the existing site?
Your instruction is correct. I can list my steps for that:

  1. You open the theme in Artisteer, export it into Themler WP theme without content included.
  2. Open the theme in the Themler desktop version. Edit the design parts.
  3. Export the theme from Themler desktop into the WP theme with no content included. Do not forget to include the editor in the export.
  4. Install the exported theme on the WP site with the old Artisteer theme and activate this new Themler theme. It should be displaying the design of the new theme and all the old content.
  5. If it is a complete new site, then you can install old Artisteer theme and import the content from it. Then perform the 4-th step listed above to install the new theme.

Sincerely,
Hella
