Footer not sticking to bottom of page when there is only a small amount of content. This was working but currently appears not to work as of the last update. "Expand to bottom" has no effect no matter where it's applied.

You own site has the footer always at the bottom, I want the same solution in themler.

I have this problem to... I added the extension "Expand to bottom" to my template's footer and if I look at the site (on a page with little content) with a tablet in portrait mode, the footer sticks to the content instead of the bottom of the screen.
See attached file.

Could you provide a fix quickly for that? It's rather important!

Meanwhile you can try adding some enters to the article's content (if page is short contented).

Worked for me. Could help until this issue is fixed.

Hello,

Please try applying the extension Expand to Bottom for the whole Sidebars control. It works fine for me.

I've added the "Expand to Bottom" extension to the footer, to Sidebars and also to both at the same time... still not working.

Hmmm... now that's weird... if I test it on my PC with Google's Developer Tools in mobile view (iPad portrait setup), it works but if I test it on Google Chrome on my Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet, the footer doesn't stick.

OK... I can confirm that it comes from Android Google Chrome web browser. I opened it on Firefox for Android and the footer sticks.

Is there a special "exception code" that would target Google Chrome you could implement in the "Expand to bottom" extension?

Hi Denis,

I could not reproduce the issue in Chrome browser on Android with the default Themler theme. Could you please provide a link to the website the issue is reproducible with? I have moved the case to private for this.

Sincerely,
Nettie,

Hi,

The problem is "CONTEXT". The interface doesn't make it clear where expand to bottom should be applied. I spent a lot of time trying to work it out. "Expand to bottom" has to be applied to the body content not the footer, this then pushes the footer to the bottom. You do this under the sidebar section of themler controls. How does the term "sidebar" indicate that that is where you should apply "Expand to bottom". Very convoluted...

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the confusion. The general approach for this extension is the following: it stretches container to the bottom. So it should be applied to the container that should be stretched if the amount of content is small.
For example, in this article there is an example for Sidebars stretched to Footer with Expand to Bottom extension.

Nettie,

Hi Nettie,

That makes perfect sense because you've articulated it, but that is not conveyed by the interface. I've been searching the forums and this is not an isolated case. The instructions/help on expand to bottom are not clear hence "user confusion".

The expand to bottom feature actually says, "Use to stick footer to bottom" so user are taking that literally, apply it to the footer which of course does not work. Again the context is not clear. Maybe it should say "apply to article/body content to push footer to bottom". As with all interface controls, to avoid confusion we must avoid ambiguity.

Regards,

Andrew

Cause if it's to the content then I have to do it to all templates which is lame. Why is this not default to begin with? Who want the footer anywhere but on the bottom??

Hello,

In new Themler versions there is an option "Stick Footer to bottom" for Content&Sidebars. This will make the footer stay at the bottom in any case.
To stretch some control, section or container up to Footer, it is "Expand to Bottom" extension that can be applied to this control, container or section. It can be applied to different controls depending on the layout.

Sincerely,
Nettie,

I have figured it out.! There are two things that you should do for the footer to stick to the bottom.
1)Toggle the Expand to bottom button and sticky button to on. Be sure to select the footer before you try this.

Sticky button and Expand to bottom

2)Click on the little arrow next to the sticky button(I have marked it with a little red circle) and change the "Fix at screen and clip and control settings from top to bottom.
Et voila! Hope this helps.

I was having the same problem with this, I was getting a white bar essentially under the footer. It wasn't the column row that was the problem for me, it was as simple as did we change the Footer Background Color? UGH! Seems simple but it got overlooked on my end. In my case I changed the row to transparent, set the footer background color and it worked without issue. By doing this remember we can add alot of the gradients and other image settings across the entire span for a cleaner look. It's not an issue with Themler, it was actually well thought out by the developers, you just need to take a couple steps back and see the whole board from a div standpoint.
