You can add it in the page list. Disable its display in the menus. Then redirect your 404 to this page.

I was hoping it could be built in like the templates for the CMS sites. What do you redirect it with?

Hello Dave,
in HTML sites the redirect mechanism to 404 page is not implemented (like in CMS themes)
Custom 404 page could be created manually on web server end.
Refer to one of articles

So to follow up on this. I was concerned this would not be a real 404 status but doing it this way will work.

On Apache cPanel you can create a 404.shtml file in your cPanel Error Pages options for each domain.

This will then put a 404.shtml file in your root of the domain. Then you can edit that some basic text and a link to the homepage.

Then in your .htaccess file simple add the one line and save that.
ErrorDocument 404 /404.shtml

You will have to create a .htaccess file if you don't have one. Addon domains usually don't.

I use a robots.txt or head tag with no index to avoid search engines indexing the page.

Pretty easy.

Hi,

Themler exports plain html and css. The 404 redirection is server side task. You can create page named 404 and configure redirect to this page. This task is not for static html website itself.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hello, that's fine. Adding a cPanel 404.shtml page is more than fine. Now that you explained it I understand.

Thanks
