Summary
The Custom Template feature allows you to create a New Custom Template or Duplicate an existing Template.
Note: Themler outputs CMS content using the Posts control. By default, this control is located inside the Sidebars control in the CMS Content Area .
The CMS Content Area is a shared area. This means that the Posts control will inherit either the default appearance of the Posts controls or the appearance of the Post control from the template that you have duplicated to create a custom template.
Please refer to this chapter, which explains how to customize the Posts control on the selected template.
Usage
Add a new Template or Duplicate an existing Template (see the screenshot above).
Let's take the Page Template:
Customize it in the way you want.
- Save changes.
Now we have two Page Templates in the theme. To use them at the same time on different Joomla pages, we should use duplicate template in joomla >> Template Manager:
Open the duplicated template and choose the new Page template:
Go to Joomla Menus >> choose Menu >> choose/add Menu Item. In our example it should be an Item of the Single Article type.
- Choose the new Template Style:
Note: Please make sure that you have configured the Page Item Options properly. For more details, please refer to this article about using the Page Template in Joomla.
- Save.
That's all. Now our example page uses the "New Page" Custom Template.
Please note that duplication of the
Template Style(
step #4) does not create a new Template. Physically, you still have a single template. Therefore, it does not matter what Template Style you will use to load Themler.

#### VirtueMart Product Categories.
In case you are using the "**VirtueMart Category**" module to navigate through product categories, there is no option to manage templates under the module settings. VirtueMart provides an option to specify an individual template for each category under the **Product Categories** >> choose **Category** >> **Details**:
