I need to verify you are not going to repeat the HUGE oversite with Artisteer and SEO structure on templates, Joomla in particular.

As of now Artisteer outputs a SEO disaster that is not even fixable by editing the template after export.

  1. Artisteer = Headline is H1 totally wrong, never have the same H1 tag on all pages and this destroys the opportunity to have a different one since you are NOT supposed to have multiple H1 tags on any page. Can be fixed manually after ever export. Huge pain in the...

  2. Page Heading and Article Title are both H2 and cannot be changed even after export because they are the same class. In Joomla each page can have a Page Heading at the menu level customized for the page outside the page title tag. This is built into Joomla to have full control over SEO and is brilliant. Artisteer is killing this amazing opportunity. This should be an H1 tag and the Article Headings should remain the H2.

Are these going to be working in Themler? God I hope so. This cannot possibly be overlooked again.

I am putting together a Joomla site with 4 templates as examples.

  1. Themler Page Heading is H2 Blog Title is H2 Incorrect
  2. Protostar Page Heading is H1 Blog Title is H2 Correct
  3. Beez Page Heading is H1Blog Title is H2 Correct
  4. Gantry Page Heading is H1Blog Title is H2 Correct
  5. DJ Monster Page Heading is H1Blog Title is H2 Correct

The 2 Joomla default themes, Protostar and Beez, should be enough to convince any developer since if Joomla itself is doing it this way then that's probably the correct way. However to demonstrate that it's pretty much industry wide I installed Gantry and DJ Monster themes which are the most used 3rd party themes.

I will provide a full report once I get this site done and start to put together code examples, etc.

Themler Please fix this asap. SEO minded web companies that use your product would like to use Joomla's core features without your hack that causes errors. There should not be a "workaround" for a core feature that is in the CMS. This is just a oversight and we all want this fixed so we can move on.

Thank you

Not sure why you can't just fix this since the error is not present when the CMS code is removed.

Why are we still asked to vote on this. You are not going to fix this?

@ josh54 ,
unfortunately the answer is No. However you may try workaround provided in the post above http://answers.themler.com/answers/122090

regards,
Aileen

Oh I forgot to mention the workaround causes a PHP error trying to open the post theme directly.

I am getting ready to put together a entire presentation on SEO, Joomla's default template, H1 tag and the 5 top Joomla template companies. I hope it will help explain the whole thing crystal clear for some action to be taken.

Every SEO expert on the planet will tell you each page should have a Unique H1 and it's 3rd for on page SEO. Page Title, Content and H1 in that order.

Joomla being the completely awesome thing that it is has this built in but the template is what makes the "Page Title" of your menu settings a H1. Neither Artisteer or Themler wraps it in H1 but instead uses H2 like the blog/article titles. A real headache for someone trying to use the CMS like it was designed. It clearly states in the Joomla template development guide "The Page Heading is to an H1 tag".

The default Protostar, and every professional template I have ever worked with has this correct. Not sure why they want to be wrong/different on this highly important feature. I just believe it's an oversight but maybe not. Either way I will not give up.

I just don't get what possibly could be the issue here on their end. They have fought me tooth and nail on this like I am asking for some off the wall change I came up with. I am merely pointing out the obvious.

I tried to vote but I get no response. Refreshing the page does not show that my vote was tallied either. I hope for their own sake that they do something about this even though I am more waiting for them to update compatibility with the new woocommerce that is currently broken when using Themler generated themes.

I am really hoping they are fixing it this time. I believe they thought I was asking for the post heading to be changed to an H1 which is not correct. This will renew my faith in them as an excellent supported product.

OK so you are basically saying you will NOT fix this on your end even though it's clearly stated in Joomla's documentation this Page Heading tag is supposed to be an H1 NOT H2?

I need a direct answer to why you are now deciding how the CMS is built. Are you taking over Joomla development?

This is a bug and needs to be fixed. Why won't you fix this????

Hi,

The workaround is in your second private topic.

Here is again:

  1. add CMS Code control available under Insert Tab >> More.
  2. insert the following code:
    <?php
    $menu = &JSite::getMenu();
    $active = $menu->getActive();
    $menuname = $active->params->get('page_heading');
    if($active->params->get('show_page_heading', 1)==1){
    echo "<h1>".$menuname."</h1>";
    }
    ?>

The appearance of H1 tag in this control you can specify under the following dialog:

Here is result:

Hi,

I created a task and assigned it to our developers. Unfortunately I can't say when this issue will be implemented. Currently it has low priority.

In the meantime please use the provided workaround.

Thank you,
Olivia

This was almost 1 year ago.

Please tell me this is one of your updates coming out in the next version.

I agree with Dave. This is important for SEO. Page title (h1) should not be the same as browser page title, but the page heading there is an option in Joomla to show on top of the page. Now, with Themler, page heading appears on top of posts with a h2 tag. If you have some sections before the posts, the page heading will also appear far down on the page.

Joomla templates should first of all support the core features and options in Joomla with good design, so Joomla may be used as intended. Every other feature should be secondary.

Please vote, if that will help
