I need to verify you are not going to repeat the HUGE oversite with Artisteer and SEO structure on templates, Joomla in particular.

As of now Artisteer outputs a SEO disaster that is not even fixable by editing the template after export.

  1. Artisteer = Headline is H1 totally wrong, never have the same H1 tag on all pages and this destroys the opportunity to have a different one since you are NOT supposed to have multiple H1 tags on any page. Can be fixed manually after ever export. Huge pain in the...

  2. Page Heading and Article Title are both H2 and cannot be changed even after export because they are the same class. In Joomla each page can have a Page Heading at the menu level customized for the page outside the page title tag. This is built into Joomla to have full control over SEO and is brilliant. Artisteer is killing this amazing opportunity. This should be an H1 tag and the Article Headings should remain the H2.

Are these going to be working in Themler? God I hope so. This cannot possibly be overlooked again.

Here's Joomla's website documentation. So why won't Themler fix this without any votes? They like to do things wrong?

https://docs.joomla.org/Help34:Menus_Menu_Item_Manager_Edit#Page_Display
Show Page Heading: (Yes/No). Show / Hide the Browser Page Title in the heading of the page ( If no optional text entered - will default to value based on the Menu Item Title ). The Page heading is displayed inside the "H1" tag.

Very disappointed in the decision to blow me off and not correct this obvious mistake made on their part.

Hi Themler Team.
Dave is absolutely right!! currently themler gives a default option of a H2 tag to all page titles.
Ofcourse i can use the "page title" control to change this, but this has to be the default on all pages...
currently it adds this unnecessary step to every site we build that needs to have a H1 title because its not built in.

I really think you should need to make only one page title control that can be changes between H1 and H2, like the text control...

This way Themler will work more streamlined and will be better for seo..
Please fix this for one of the future updates..

Thanks for your time :)

It's now been 6 months to the day on this. I will assume that you do not care about standards that are in place for the CMS that you are making templates for.

I am very disappointed that you refuse to correct your mistakes in a timely manner. If the developers are making this an H2 because they disagree with the Joomla CMS developers then that is far worse.

I really hope you take the 5 minutes to correct this. It's just very unprofessional. You will not find another professional template with the Page Title as an H2. Being different is one thing but being wrong is another.

I've been a customer for 6 years and was hoping that you would fix this in Artisteer and not repeat this in Themler.

Please don't get me wrong. You are working hard on a good thing and I am only requesting this because it is going to make it better.

Hello, I am disappointed by your stance on this. We both know there is no such testing, fixing or investigation needed to implement this. You are simply changing the tag container just like it already is in the default template. There are 5 votes for this and you just don't want to do it for some reason. If you don't want to do it then please say so. The Joomla CMS is designed to be this way and you for some reason want to do things your own way. Why?

I do not want to use your simple workaround for many reasons.

Can you please ask them if they could please remedy this sometime in a future update.

I would appreciate your help.

Hi,

Unfortunately the whole process (investigating, fixing, testing) will take not just 10 min.
The task is still opened. While it is open there is a possibility that it will be fixed. To change priority we need at least a few more requests.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hi, that's because most people are unaware of this. It was a mistake and should be fixed asap. It would take 5 minutes for your team so i am starting to assume you are not ever going to do this.

I know it would take you 10 minutes tops. 5 months and you cannot spend 10 minutes. Why won't you fix this? You have it correct on the default theme template already. I don't like being mislead. If you are not going to fix it then just say so.

You have already agreed Joomla should be H1 so it's a bug in my opinion.

Thanks

Hi,

No, unfortunately. The task is backlog as many others.
Because of a low number of user requests it has low priority.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hello, so 5 months have gone by. Have your developers had time to correct this yet? I have seen 20 updates since you assigned this.

Thank you

Hi,

I created a task and assigned it to our developers. Unfortunately I can't say when this issue will be implemented. Currently it has low priority.

In the meantime please use the provided workaround.

Thank you,
Olivia

So to enforce this I see the Joomla documentation does indeed state this to be how they intended their system to work.

Show Page Heading: (Yes/No). Show / Hide the Browser Page Title in the heading of the page ( If no optional text entered - will default to value based on the Menu Item Title ). The Page heading is usually displayed inside the "H1" tag.

https://docs.joomla.org/Help34:Menus_Menu_Item_Manager_Edit#Page_Display

I just want to use this feature like it was built into the Joomla system as intended for SEO purposes. Why was this done differently and why won't this be updated to an H1 tag?

Update: The component template does indeed use the correct H1 tag when the Page Heading is shown.

The Blog and Page Templates are H2.

Probably just an oversight but please fix this asap. I especially want to use this Page Heading and Article Title combination for my current project that needs advanced SEO done.

Thank you

Hi,

Can someone tell me what is this option "Show title" in Posts options in WordPress ?

If one of you pages is marked as WP Posts page the "Show Title" option will show the title of this page as H2:

blog-title.png

If you need H1 please use Page Title control.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hello, thanks for getting back to me. I don't really consider this an idea so much as how every other Joomla template works and how Joomla is designed to work. Even Artisteer got this part right. No professional template does this way why would you want to?

Simply put the Browser Page Title, if entered, will replace (menu item name) in the title tab text.

The Page Heading, if set to yes, will show the menu item name or the custom entry.

This is how it is designed to work. It's not really optional. I am very much hoping you are going to do more than consider this. I feel like you are taking this as a request for my custom system configuration.

Sincerely,
Dave

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.
I see your point.
I've offered our developers your idea:

To be clear, yes the Browser Page Title would be used if you set it to yes in the menu settings and leave the Page Heading empty, but if you enter the Page Heading it should use that instead.

They will consider it for future updates.

Thank you,
Olivia

You do not want to have the page H1 match the browser page title if you want to fully optimize for SEO.

I have gotten website search results in major cities for such things as Law Firms on page one top of page organically using this system. Artisteer did not do this and will not fix it and I am confident you will rectify this.

You can look up any of these points on Moz or any other SEO website and the Joomla system that supports these techniques.

Thank you for fixing this. Or if you have a method of doing it now I await your instructions.

Hello, I have started testing again and found this is not correct as per how Joomla is set up to function.

Joomla was designed so you can just kill in SEO by using the exact structure Google/Bing is looking for. This was done with very careful thought and you are very close but you need to not use the Browser Page Title on the page, but only in the tab and then let the Page Heading show on the page as H1. Just change the Page Title to use the Page Heading assigned in the Joomla Menu Items settings shown below.

This is Imperative

  1. A custom browser page title in the browsers tab (does not show on page)
  2. Then a Page Heading which is you single H1 tag for that page and is customized
  3. Then you have your Article titles that are H2 tags for the second set of keywords
  4. Content would contain the H3 and the module titles

Your Page Heading is not showing, if I add the Page Title like your instructions you get the Browser Page Title which is not supposed to show up on the page but only for alternate SEO "Title Tag" in the browser tab.

The Page Heading is supposed to be the H1 tag you can use for each page to be fully SEO compliant.

Blog or article titles are H2.

So here is your template with the Page Title inserted like you instructed above.

browser-title.jpg

Now here is the Joomla menu item settings which show what is what.

browser-title2.jpg

Here is the Protostar template

protoblogpage.jpg

The Page Heading is indeed the H1
