Apparently there is NO way (in Joomla) to create a "Mega Menu".
Regardless of all the pages you've devoted to creating a Mega Menu, what appears in Joomla is NOT a mega menu - at least not what "most" mega menus look like.

A mega menu is one that has multiple rows and is horizontal. So if I want 2 menu items in my hmenu to have multiple sub-menu items, they "SHOULD" be laid out horizontally.

Instead, what happens with the Themler mega menu is...all sub-items are VERTICAL! What's the point of that? I wanted the mega menu in order to eliminate a vertical menu on the side.

A mega menu is not what Themler created and "called" a mega menu. The idea behind the mega menu is to allow many page links in a linear fashion so that when a top-menu item is hovered the sub-menu items appear horizontally.

Now unless I'm missing something, and I've been through all the OLD instructions to create a mega menu in Joomla (instructions that have NOT been updated to the "current" Joomla 3.9.18 and make absolutely no sense - to me, who has been working with Joomla since it was Mambo!).

So if I want the sub-menu items to be linear, I have to "figure it out" for myself?

Hello,

Indeed, the items should be laid out horizontally. Looks like your menu has less then 3 levels. Basically, the same instruction works for Joomla 3.9 as well - please try to test it with 3-levels menu or let us know if there are additional questions on how to set it up.

Sincerely,
Nettie
