The default skins in DNN come with user profile pic, message alerts, search, and login controls in a user bar going across the top of the site with the logo and menu in a section below.

I am wondering how can I achieve this quickly for many sites to where I can make these work with Themler.

Also Dotnetnuke version 9 has been released with the new persona bar which can be skinned as well and I believe the last update in Themler was for version 7.

Some feature requests for an update on DNN in Themler.

Thank you.

Hi,

Do you mean this block?

login-block-dnn.png

You can add it manually using the following solution:

  1. open Portals\_default\Skins\[themler-skin]\
    home-template.ascx or home-template.ascx file depending on what theme you're using.
  2. add the following code to the place where you want this bar to appear:
    <div id="login">
    <dnn:LOGIN ID="dnnLogin" CssClass="LoginLink" runat="server" LegacyMode="false" />
    <dnn:USER ID="dnnUser" runat="server" LegacyMode="false" />
    </div>
  3. open Portals\_default\Skins\Gravity\skin.css file (a stylesheet of the default DNN theme)
  4. find the css code between the following comment tags:
    /*------------------------------------------------*/
    /* LOGIN */
    /*------------------------------------------------*/
    this code
    /*------------------------------------------------*/
    /* SITE HEADER */
    /*------------------------------------------------*/

  5. copy this code to the bottom of the Themler skin stylesheet: Portals\_default\Skins\[themler-skin]\assets\style.css file.

  6. change the path to the icons in the copied code:
    background: url('images/icon_message.png') no-repeat center center;
    background: url('images/icon_notification.png') no-repeat center center;
    to
    background: url('../images/icon_message.png') no-repeat center center;
    background: url('../images/icon_notification.png') no-repeat center center;

  7. copy the icon_message.png and icon_notification.png images from the Portals\_default\Skins\Gravity\Images\ to the Portals\_default\Skins\[themler-skin]\assets\Images\ folder.

Yes, Themler supports DNN 7 only,

Please keep us posted about the progress.

Thank you,
Olivia

Yes this is the block I am talking about. It would be great to have the ability to put that in templates. Changing these icons and ability to theme as part of a template would be great.

My issue with logo previously with DNN 8 ended up being an issue with trying to add an image in the header... image never appears when template is applied.

DNN 9 has been released.

I have had success with most things using themler except the settings icon for modules when in edit mode goes off page. The control bar now the persona bar is off the left instead of on top. The setting icons end up going vertical instead of horizontal and off the page a bit.

I think a cool DNN 9 release would be awesome with a little testing.

Really just a few minor bugs and this one feature request from what I can tell.

I am happy to provide feedback.

Hi,

Looks like DNN 7 and 8 use different functions for Logo. I can only suggest that you compare logo in Themler home-template.ascx file and DNN 8 default theme page.ascx file and correct the code. Unfortunately I don't have DNN 8 installed and cannot tell you what exactly code you need.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thank you,
Olivia

I tried the same thing and not applied on my themler (v.355) theme. Please advise how to use the login control.

Thanks!
