Using Themler on sites that have multiple themes in Joomla

I have a site that uses a variety of different themes for various sections of the site. The aim is to make it appear as each section is a different website managed from a central point. I used to use Artisteer to produce the templates but now I've switched to Themler I have hit an issue. Because Themler allows you to have different styles for different types of pages (which is a really great feature) it is not applying the home template to what is effectively the "home" page for that part of the site. The style it is using is the "page" style. Is there a way in Joomla to force the Home style on a page that isn't the Default page for the site?

Hi,

No, the Home template is used only for the default site page. You can recreate the Home template style on the Page template and use it on the desired pages. Here you can find some instructions on how to manage templates in Joomla:

Hella,

I started a private thread about this very subject, "independent templates". I've had no response and would like to add that after reviewing your instructions and link, I find nothing to indicate why "all" templates have parts of the 1 template I have assigned to 1 article. All other pages are assigned "other" templates. Yet, when I accessed a template that was not assigned to any pages, I found items within that template which were part of my main template.

To better explain.
I had template_1 and template_2.
I did extensive, complicated work in template_1 an assigned that template to 1 page / article in Jooma.
I then opened template_2 and found all of the sections created in template_1.

Because I knew that each template is "supposed" to be independent, I deleted the sections from template_2.
That "also" deleted those same sections in template_1 and I lost weeks of work that could not be recovered.

I did have a back-up, but it took over 10 hours to update that back-up template to what I "had" in template_1.

I need each template to be independent because I have a very complicated project that requires what Joomla does - allows different templates "per-page".

I need to know why Themler is not allowing the templates to be independent.
Everything that I've found thus far inside Themler answers has not indicated anything I didn't already know and have made sure to make as part of the template_1.

Is it possible that the update to Themler - "after" I advised Themler that Joomla had updated to version 3.9.0 and Themler was unable to allow access because Themler had not been prepared for the Joomla update - was the cause? It was just after that issue when I had the non-independent templates.

Please advise.
Thomas

@tmgarrison:
have you first copied the page or blog before editing ?

Yes. That part was obvious. After all, template_1 and template_2 are both in the list of templates and could only appear there by creating a copy of the first template.

In fact, it was a couple of weeks between the time I'd been working on the template_1 since creating template_2. I left template_2 alone and unassigned for at least a couple of weeks before attempting to begin editing that template.

Trust me. This is a first and I've been working with Joomla since 2004. I've never had an issue with Themler or Aritsteer after creating multiple templates and editing each interdependently.

I'm guessing this is on the Themler side since I've not had any response to either this thread or my private thread.

But thanks for checking in, Seppe.

Support,

I'm trying to do something like this.
1 template is used the same as a "home" page template, but it used on 1 category - nothing else.
Another template is used to assign to 1 category with "Featured Articles".

I need the template that will be assigned to the category to allow a Joomla position "under" each Featured Article in the list of the category page.

Take a look at this page (https://www.munsonboats.com/fire.php)
I'm creating the same basic idea, although responsive and with new colors, etc. We do not want to have users go to individual pages in order to view the list of boats, and to see the images assigned to each boat.

I already have the software to display the images for each boat, but I have not been able to figure out how Themler will allow a Joomla position under each boat in a list style.
I've created a few boats as articles, set them to featured, and assigned them to a category.
I'm using a "home" template in Themler to design the list, and I haven't tried this using the "Page", although that's next. But as much time as it took to design the very long template (template_1 in the above issue), there "must" be an easier way to get Themler to allow what is essentially a 1-page-template.

I know there are many possibilities (http://answers.themler.io/questions/58625/only-one-template-for-all-pages-joomla) although what I've found does not address my complicated efforts.

First, the templates need to be independent in order to keep them from overriding one another or effecting another template in any manner unless I want. Thus far, that's not possible and I know it should be possible.

Second, creating a template for a single page design that allows multiple Joomla positions.

At this point I have to design in 2 completely different Joomla installations in order that I know for certain Themler is not going to combine templates.
I'd certainly appreciate some feedback from Themler.
