Themler is more flexible in this matter. You can create different templates within one theme. The different content should be added within the CMS.

I actually need this and tried it, but the new custom page types did not show up as selections within the Wordpress CMS.
It's like I can create them but can't use them or apply them to any pages.

Did you use "Custom template" ? It it is so you need to match WordPress template hierarchy.
