- Upload file from attachment in themes root folder (Just naked file, not folder or ZIP)
- When theme is exported as ZIP with Themler use FTP client to transfer it to live server.
- Use direct URL to access your file: http://www.some-website.com/wp-content/themes/unzip.php
- Just folow simple instruction tu unpack/extract your TH theme from ZIP file.
- You can leave unzip.php in themes folder, there are no security risks with it. Or you can delete it, never mind.
What is reason I make this topic ?
- First and foremost very irritating long time FTP clients transfer all TH theme files and folders to live server. THG themes are huge and have many, many small files, something FTP clients dont like. Transfer of theme ZIP is much, much faster.
- Second even if website is locked for visitors we can assume it is open to viewing for owner. Each time you wait many minutes until FTP client transfers all small files owner will se errors on website and got panic.
- Third, one allways forget something, be ie just correction of 2px margin. Then Save, then transfer theme folder with FTP client, wait and wait, website spits errors in meantime.
Some non-scientific test:
- FileZilla FTP client, very huge and customized theme, shared hosting, transfer of TH theme folder = 08:05 time
- All the same, theme is inside ZIP and ZIP is transferred = 02:25
Number of different errors owner sees under 08:05 = plenty
Number of different errors owner sees under 02:25, when is done with ZIP and unzip = NONE
