I can change the thumbnail proportions

In the page products, i can change the product image proportions. If i make them bigger the quality of the picture get poor.

do you mean images at the page like http://www.dkdecor.be/index.php/muurbekleding/vliesbehang ?
If yes, then you may specify the width and height for the Product Image control.
If I misunderstood you please let me know.
