Hi,

How can I update Themler Desktop (on Windows)?
I installed it mid 2015, I cannot find the version but I'm sure there must be updates by now.
But just installing the most current download version 1.0.319.fe25b does not work as an update.
Error: "Port 12080 is used by anther process. Please ensure port is free and restart insallation".
What to do?

All the best,

Eric

Hello,

Please try installing this version that doesn't require using port 12080:
http://downloads.themler.com/old/Themler.1.0.93.a5d83.exe
After installing please update to the latest Themler version.
Please let us know the result.

Sincerely,
Nettie,

Hello Nettie,

Does not work, I get the very same error.
I found the Diagnostics tool and it told me I have the next version:
INFO:Check HTTP Server...
INFO:Check url for C:\PROGRA~3\Themler\hd_data\themler_1915321035
INFO: Check is url available: http://localhost:12080/themler_1915321035/startup
INFO: Check is url available: http://localhost:12080/themler_1915321035/wordpress
INFO: Check is url available: http://localhost:12080/themler_1915321035/joomla
INFO:Check INI Files...
INFO:No errors!

What should I do? Try to uninstall everything first? I found uninstall.bat files for MS SQL server and apache?

Thanks,

Eric

Hello Eric,

Please follow the steps below:
1. Backup all theme folders somewhere on your computer if there are any. The path is shown in the Theme Management screen after selecting some CMS, for example, C:\ProgramData\Themler\hd_data\themler_xxxxxxxxx\wordpress.
Or export the themes one by one with "Include Themler" option checked.
2. Uninstall Themler completely and also check the box for "Remove all CMS content".
3. Check if the following folders are still present:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Themler
C:\ProgramData\Themler

4. If they exist, remove them.
5. Reboot the machine after uninstalling Themler, so that all Themler services are removed for sure.
6. Temporarily disable antivirus and firewall.
7. Download latest version of Themler for Windows from themler.com, install it and try to start with Themler for any CMS and create a theme.
Please let us know the result.

Sincerely,
Nettie,

Tried that, both bat files give: system error 5, access denied!
Is there another way to uninstall?

Hello,

Do you have ThemlerUninstall.exe file at the path like C:\Program Files (x86)\Themler? If so, please try running this file first.

Sorry, there is no uninstall file there, only Themler.vbs, an icon, diagnostics.info and license.txt and the bin directory

Hello,

Please try manually removing all the traces from Themler installation - remove the Themler folder from Program Files like C:\Program Files (x86)\Themler, the folder C:\ProgramData\Themler and its contents, in the registry search for all the mentionings of Themler and remove them.
Alternatively, if you have some third-party removal tool and Themler is displayed in there, you may try removing Themler and all the traces.

After this continue from step 5.

Sincerely,
Nettie,

Hello,

I cannot say I'm overly happy with this.
The Apache, php and mysql files were in use, so locked. I had to boot up with a live Linux to remove them all.
Then clean up the registry ...
After re-install, fortunately there is a ThemlerUninstall.exe now.

How will future updates work? I see no update option.

Best regards,
Eric

Hello Eric,

So Themler starts correctly now? If so, after creating a new theme there should be Updates notification at the top with "1" in the red circle. When there is a new update, this notification appears. Just click on it to update the existing theme to the latest Themler version.

Sincerely,
Nettie,

Yes, it starts without problems and I've seen the red update as well.
Is that just for this template, or for my locally installed Themler itself as well?

Hello,

When you update a Themler theme, Themler is updated and the theme is updated to the latest Themler version. But all the themes can be updated separately in case you would not prefer to update any of them at the moment. The themes that are not updated will use the version they had previously until you update them.

Nettie,

Hi again,

So, when I update a theme, my local Themler installation gets updated as well? Are you sure?
That did not happen when I had my previous version?

All the best,,Eric

Hello,

By update the installation itself does not change. The desktop installation file itself can be updated only manually by installing a new file fo Themler for Windows from our website. But this is not needed unless it is mentioned in some of our news on updates. Another thing are Themler updates - these are updates that you can install from time to time from our server, and there are notifications about them we are talking about. The Beta updates are also included there but can be installed optionally - for this notifications for Beta updates should be enabled in your profile. Hotfix updates are also included there and are shown in notifications. These are updates my previous post was about. Let us know if any additional questions appear.

Sincerely,
Nettie,
