Nice. But would need much more to force me to pay renewal licence.

The themes get updated just like a CMS installed version but you have to manually download a new version of the program and install it. I don't think it checks for updates you must do it manually.

It's been some time since an update if I remember correctly.

Hi,

In general, you don't need the new Desktop version. You can update themes including default theme in a regular way. The new Desktop installation makes sense only when we make changes to installation files exactly. The Desktop application and Themler itself are not related to each other. Themler is a part of the theme, Desktop application is a webserver+CMS.

Thank you,
Olivia

When will you update the Joomla version in the Desktop version? It is still Joomla 3.3.1 on my end. That's pretty old.

Thanks

Hi,

Currently we do not plan to update CMS versions in the Desktop installation in the near future. But CMS version does not affect on theme creation as well as php version.

If you want to make themes on the latest CMS version you can setup your local webserver with the desired CMS version. It will be the same as Themler Desktop.

Thank you,
Olivia

I considered updating WordPress that's included with the Desktop version, but haven't in fear that it may not work right and I'll lose any work I may have done. Is it a good idea to update WordPress in the Desktop version? Or is it better to just do with with a local web server?

It's off topic, but I've had an issue of "uploading" images to the theme with either a local web server or on a live website. For example, trying to upload an image for the logo. The error would be something about not having the right permissions or something. It seems to work only on the Desktop version, so that's what I've been using.

Bob the Goat,

It is recommended to stay with the version that is included in Themler desktop. As for risk of losing the themes - in any case you may create backup before this, copy themes manually from the folder with themes stored locally on your computer or export all the themes.

Relating for the persmissions issue you used to have - for the future, please make sure that the user and group running on the web server are granted the appropriate read, write and execute (linux only) permissions on the following folders, as well as read and write permission on the files in these folders:

\wp-content\uploads
\wp-content\themes
\wp-content\plugins

This shoulld be for any host you use Themler theme at - no matter if it is a live host or localhost.

Sincerely,
Nettie,
BillionDigital Team
