After giving some thought to this I have some new insight on the program and company. I have been a user of Artisteer since early 2010 and then adopted Themler a little over a year ago. I have been watching the progress of all this very closely and have been somewhat concerned by a few things. Upon reading the uPage site and various conversations with people I see the reason for this move and believe it could benefit us all if they succeed. So I will help them any way I can.
My take on this is simple. Artisteer was fast and easy but lacked much control. It sold like crazy and make them money. The problem was they did not choose Bootstrap and it is not where the industry went. So it was replaced by Themler. Not hard to comprehend for someone who is open minded. Themler is very powerful but just too technical and not a true replacement for Artisteer.
Themler is amazing and has 100x more control than Artisteer and is a one of a kind invention that has no rival. I keep looking and find none. However it's not for amateurs and is too frustrating for non tech people. It took me months of using it to become proficient with it. I still am not fully understanding it but can do so much with it. This program is for professional web designers and should stay that way. I would pay 2x the price to see it continued without blinking an eye. Do NOT stop developing this program!
So in steps uPage. The program to replace Artisteer that Themler did not accomplish. It can be fast, easy and hopefully work with Themler natively. At least that will be my hope. E.g. one set of css/js files perhaps. Anyway, if they can profit from this and make people happy again they will have more revenue to develop both programs.
With uPage I can develop the themes using Themler and offer users a fancy page builder. I can even offer a service to optimize the pages if needed. As an SEO & web designer I know the pages will need to be fast and small to load fast. Themler is not something you turn over to a client to make anything. They would not be happy trying to figure this out. I see the whole new thing as a positive step if this is what they are doing. As long as they do not try and replace Themler with it all will benefit. The pros need Themler and the day designers can use Upage. We all win, right?
I will help them any way possible.
