I am unable to add a control to the cms content container to allow editing of an article from the front end of Joomla. I can't do this on any view.

How is this done as it is something that we badly need.

Regards,

Chris.

Dear Nettie,

Can you point me in the direction of where I would find the "Edit icon" enabling switch as I don't see one in "Options"

Regards,

Chris.

Hi,

Please let me clarify a bit. You cannot add the Edit control inside Themler? Or you have added it in the application and it is not shown on the site?

Sincerely,
Hella

With most non-Themler themes I would have to do nothing. If I log on as an Admin to the front end of the site I will see an edit icon in the top right hand corner of any article. Click that icon and I would be able to edit the article in the front end with the default editor. In a Themler theme I cannot do that as the icon does not appear. (On any menu items and modules the icon does appear and clicking on it takes me to the backend to allow me to edit the module or the menu item.) I have read that you have to add a edit control when creating the themler theme but that is only for posts not articles.

Does this make it clear?

Regards,

Chris.

Hi,

You need to add Post Edit control on the Post and Page templates. They both used for joomla articles depending on the article or menu item configuration. Joomla does not have posts and pages, only articles.

Thank you,
Olivia

Can I please ask where I add this. I have CMS content container and HTML containers and can't see how I add the "Post Edit Control" to either of them. Where is it?

Hi,

You need to open the template that you need to add the icon to. Then click anywhere in the content and open the Posts control options. Under the Add Control drop-down drag the Post Edit control somewhere in the post content area.

Sorry Hella, but this is adding the control to the Post page. When users log on to my site they never see a Post page and therefore they never are able to see a Post Edit control on the pages that need editing. The Joomla articles always appear on the "Page" theme in an HTML container for some reason. Please tell me if somethng is wrong?

Hi,

So open the Page template in Themler and then do all as described above. The Post template is seen on the screen shot as the example.

Sincerely,
Hella

Dear Hella,

That is not possible as there is no posts container on the Page Template. It appears as an HTML container with the article inside it. If you click on the HTML container you do not see the Posts menu item at the top of Themler to be able to add a "Post Edit" control.

Sorry to be difficult but the above just does not work. Where does the Posts Container come from. I will add a picture of my view.

Hi,

When you click on the HTML control, you should see the breadcrumbs on the bottom of the Themler screen. Look at the bottom of my initial screen shot. There you can click on the Posts control to open the required options.

Sincerely,
Hella

At long last. Yes, I can now see the the post content link at the bottom and have added a Post Edit control. How do I make it appear as an icon on the page as opposed to saying "Edit"?

Thank you!!!

Hi,

The Post Edit control has "Icon" option where you can set desired icon. if icon is specified then metadata icons are disabled under the joomla artile or menu item settings.

Thank you,
Olivia

Brilliant, that has got that sorted. Article: Options > Show Icons.

Thank you. I am starting to enjoy Themler now the way we used to enjoy your predecessor!
