Hi,

On mij website "javadu.be" I defined a left sidebar for both home and post template.
They are identical.
But now I want to disconnect them, because I want to be able to hide the sidebar for the posts from the (smart)phone views to save some space.
Is there a way to resolve this?

Best regards,
Mark Jansen

Hello Mark,

It is possible, to enable/disable a sidebar for a specific template, for this in the Sidebar tab select Show On [some template]. For the template it is shown on, it is possible to define in which modes the sidebar will be displayed, also in the Sidebar tab there is an option Display On - for example, click on Phones icon, to hide the sidebar in Phones mode.

Sincerely,
Nettie

Hello Nettie,

Thanks for the explanation.
I've still one problem. I don't see the "Show on".
The "Display on" is visible (see screenshot), but when disabling for phones f.i. this also occurs for al the other templates. That's what I don't want to happen.

Sincerely,
Mark

Hello Mark,

Sorry for confusion. To switch a sidebar for a specific template, please go to the Content&Sidebars tab >> Sidebars and select a sidebar, then click on the little arrow to open a drop-down with templates.

Sincerely,
Nettie

Nice,

But I still want to go a step further.
I would like to display the left sidebar on all my templates (home and post).
But I don't want to display the template on the phone view of a post and only a post.
That's what I'm finally looking for....
So that's why I thought I should try to disconnect both left sidebars from home and post so they are independent from each other and than I could hide the sidebar for just the phone view on a post without influencing the home template.

Sincerely,
Mark

Hi,

Sorry for the delays. The Sidebars are special containers created to share its styles and content between templates. This is the main function of sidebars. And, unfortunately, this function cannot be disabled.
I have only one idea. If you know css you can add some custom css which will hide the sidebar in the phone mode directly on the template using HTML control. Add it somewhere on the template (at the top or at the bottom but not inside containers with orange border). Unfortunately there is no other way to achieve what you want.

Thank you,
Olivia
