Difference between top menu vs horizontal menu in Joomla?

Hi All,
I try to understand difference between top menu vs horizontal menu in Joomla and found this information:

What is the main difference between these menus?
In which situations should I use the top menu and in which horizontal menu?

I will be grateful for dispelling my doubts.

Hello Krzysztof,
Horizontal menu is primary navigation, it has more style options, collapses to mobile view in responsive modes, may have animation effects.

Top menu can be used as secondary navigation, it has less style options. Usually it is used to display additional links at the top of the header (as login or register).
