Corrupted HOME template

Hi there,
I use Themler with Joomla, and have two frontend languages on the website. Hence I have created two HOME templates.

Today I noticed that the "English" HOME template was extremely slow (loading at 16-18 seconds). Every subpage and also all pages on the second language was much faster loading within less than 2 seconds.

I therefore figured out that the HOME template for the english language was somewhat corrupted.

My First question is hence, is there a way of repairing such corrupted HOME templates?

In this case I was able to duplicate my other language HOME template, and translated this back into English again, then set this as the default for English language, and voila, my English homepage is loading in less than two seconds.

I am however now left with a template called HOME that is corrupted, and no longer in use.
I have tried to delete this template, but the "remove template" is greyed out. How can I remove this template

All help is appreciated.

Hello,

Unfortunately, we cannot say for now what caused the initial issue with the Home template. Is it expected to be used again so it makes sense to repair it or create one more similar one? In any case, templates, that were present by default, cannot be removed like Home, Blog, Page etc. Only custom templates (including those created by duplication) and store templates can be removed. So if everything works as it should for the website, just leave the templates as they are - if Home template is not assigned to the Front page item in Joomla, it will simply not be used on the live site.

Sincerely,
Nettie

Thanks a lot for answering me.
I was hoping there was some kind of "corruption fix", as I do spend quite a bit of time building the templates.
In this case I was lucky to have a copy in another language that I simply could translate.

Otherwise, I would have had to restore an older version of Joomla to get back to a time before the corruption.

Also, I do hope that in the future you allow users to delete all the unwanted templates just like the "store" template can be deleted. If such templates are required again at a later time, they could in the same way as the "store" template be added again.

Hello,

I see your point. However this is the feature of templates that are present by default in Themler that they cannot be removed. Still you may create as many custom templates of any type as needed and assign them to the items that should use them.
As for theme recovery, in any case it is recommended to create backup copies of themes, for example by exporting them with Themler editor option included. Also, there are backup copies created automatically when updating a theme to a newer Themler version. If created with Themler desktop, a theme is saved locally on your computer as well as its backups.

Sincerely,
Nettie
