Hi All,

Some of our customers rightly complain about our tutorials and believe it or not, we suck at teaching the best usage of Themler because developing tools is much different from using them. Users who use products like Artisteer and Themler utilize them much better than we do, because their job is NOT to use the product, but to achieve their goal. If they don't have Themler then they may use Notepad to achieve the same goal, but they know their goal and that's all they care about.
Themler is a just a tool, like a paintbrush, and in the right hands it can be used to achieve amazing results. While paintbrush manufacturers don't really know how painters use their paintbrushes...
And for example some great designers can be more skilled than us at creating amazing designs, while simply taking advantage of tools like Themler to achieve their goals. They also come up with tricks and solutions we may not think of.
Look at filmmakers who started putting video cameras on drones, dollies, levers and cars, extending their lenses and adding filters - all to address their needs and not allow the camera to limit them. While the camera instructions and video tutorials simply say "please hold the camera steady and press the Record button". Do you really think that camera manufacturers like Canon make the best films...? Nope, only great filmmakers make great films. Camera manufacturers actually hire those filmmakers to demonstrate how they'd use the camera. And then the camera manufacturers learn what else a good filmmaker may need that the camera doesn't support yet.

Therefore we are also interested in hiring some of our users/customers to produce videos and tutorials for us and for the rest of you, on how to get the most out of Themler. And most of our customers use Themler to make money, therefore let's help some of you make money. If you created great themes with Themler, please send an email to us at proposals@themler.com with your portfolio and what you could do for us and our user community, especially in terms of producing tutorials and videos. We'd be especially interested in quotes per-article, per-tutorial and per-video, with specific topics and theme designs that you could teach.

Thank you

What has happened with this?

How do people get paid? What rates are realistic? Is the work done for free?

Also, I could make videos if I could find documentation anywhere on how to perform even the most basic functions using Themler. Could anyone tell me how to create a menu, add it to a theme and make it transparent? Or how to find a different page in a theme and be able to edit it?

I could make a video on how to change backgrounds and add animations but how would I add it or submit it for approval? I think opening this up to a wider view, cross-posting it on other topics, and posting this in the Artisteer forums as well, might get more responses and produce actual results more quickly.

Please respond when convenient.

I may be able to help with some of the beginner stuff, as I'm still really just starting out with themler myself. I can use persicope on my smart phone (periscope is based on my twitter @frozenpeachwebs) if anyone would like free help sessions. It's real time so you can interact and I can show you how to do something with a walk through and my voice by pointing the phone camera at my screen.

I just figured out drag and drop and edited the starter theme to use on my sites frozenpeachwebdesign.com and frozenpeachthemes.com which are powered by wordpress

I'll try to do some screen captures as well and put it on the blog of my sites. I'll do it similar to the artisteer docs which are easy to follow.

Once I'm more adept with this I intend on upgrading once more to pro level and provide ecommerce themes. I will include the themler editor with any of them I create with themler, but the rest I have done with artisteer.

FrozenPeach82, I have off work on Thursdays and Fridays and would love to set up a date and time to get involved in some of these with you. I love Themler and am ready to start creating themes with it now, not whenever good documentation comes out. I have Skype up and running and can use Screencast O Matic, so let me know how I can get involved on my end.

Also, if you use Ecwid, you can use eCommerce on any type of theme, across the board, and still customize the design using a little CSS.

My sites are SuddenImpactWebDesign.com and DenverWeb.us, both in need of a reboot.

Thank you for following up. We see a few ways to address this:

  1. Questions like you Dave posted about creating menus, etc, are great, though please feel free to post them as separate forum questions and our support team will help. We only didn't fully understand your question about a different page in a theme, because themes usually don't have pages but page template that control how later new pages added in your CMS will look like. Unless you're using Themler for creating HTML websites with pages. Again, this is something to discuss and clarify as a separate topic not related to tutorials. Though we may be able to provide detailed instructions with screenshots that later could be used in tutorials.

  2. The initial message above is asking to contact us privately and basically sell us your services, describing your expertise and how you can help, and provide pricing quote.

  3. Community-driven efforts would help everyone here, so we definitely appreciate any information, videos and streams that anyone wants to share. We cannot manage everyone's voluntary efforts but may occasionally monitor such activities and jump in when needed.

  1. The Themler theme for an IT Company has multiple pages listed in it. These pages do exist in the theme and appear to be there to be used. Can they be edited when they cannot be found in the menu? This I don't know. It's a WP theme

  2. I did not feel comfortable asking for a quote on something where I am not expert and was also responding to an earlier statement post by someone else asking for feedback. I guessed that the person was open to feedback and that it would be ok to respond honestly and openly in this forum.

  3. I would be (and I'm sure others as well) would be happy to submit video tutorials if possible. I'm sure more experienced Themler users would ask for remuneration and certainly deserve it for their time and work. For myself, being new to Themler and finding it inscrutable in many ways, I would be fine with submitting general use videos as simple walk-throughs of basic procedures that are understood at this time. I think cross-posting this on the Artisteer forum, and in other categories would get more response more quickly. If there were a submission form to submit videos for review, I would submit one within a few days and I'm sure others would as well.
