Hi Nettie,
I was just about to start a new thread, but found this one is very close to the issue I had just yesterday - February 24, 2021.
Please bear with me because this is what "I" consider an ongoing bug with Themler. Since this thread is a year old and the problem still exists, the developers need to take a closer look at Themler.
Near the end of the work day, I made a couple of edits within Themler to my template for Joomla. Usually I have Joomla admin open in another tab when I have Themler open. But, I "thought" it was going to be a quick edit so I didn't open the additional tab right away.
When I attempted to save my edits I got an error message from Themler that I'd never seen before. The error stated that no such domain could be found (in part).
That's when I attempted to open the additional tab to Joomla admin. When I was met with the login screen I knew why Themler threw the error.
So I logged in again, refreshed everything and made my edit again. I saved and watched Themler saving. When it was finished saving, I looked at the front end of the Web site.
The simple edit that I made was "not" saved.
I then refreshed Themler and it too confirmed that the edit had not been saved because the text reverted to what it was before I edited. After several attempts with the same result I dug deeper.
I knew something was wrong, so I started looking at the files on the server to see "where" Themler had saved my edits. Clearly it was NOT to the template I chose to update, but it "was" saving something somewhere.
On the server (using FileZilla) I found a tmp folder inside my templates folder. There I could see that Themler had saved what I was editing, but that was not to the template I had open. It was saving my editing to a temporary file in the tmp folder.
I attempted to open the default Themler (blank) template and it would not open. I attempted to "export" my template and work on it with the desktop version. It took forever, then did not provide me with the download. I had waited upwards of 5 minutes for a response and nothing. I actually attempted several times with the same result.
Because it was the end of my day I was too tired to deal with it at that point. So today, Thursday, February 25, 2021, I was going to download the tmp folder and work on the issue on my desktop.
The very first thing I did was open FileZilla to download the tmp folder.
It was gone!
So I logged in to Joomla then Themler, made my edit that I attempted yesterday and it worked perfectly.
This long story was my way of saying, all of the above users (in my opinion) seem to have this issue, even though none of them thought to look for tmp folder in the templates folder.
My suggestion is to have the developers look into why Themler creates the tmp folder and then does not finish the process. I agree the tmp has to happen. But Themler doesn't always complete the process. Themler seems - at times that have no possibility to recreate - to create temporary files but doesn't process them and that keeps the user from being able to do anything with Themler.
I hope this all makes sense. Contact me if you need more. Feel free to move this to "Bug" if you wish.
Thanks for all your work.
Thomas
