Theme Recommendations Regarding PageSpeed

Hi there,

I'm running a Windows related WordPress blog where I post tutorials about tips, bug fixes, etc. My website is pretty simple and only consists of a blog and posts. Right now I'm using the free WordPress theme Twenty Fourteen that give me some good numbers regarding page speed. When I test my website gives me 92 on Desktop, but soon as I enabled Adsense that rating drops almost 20 points even when I push ads below the fold.

The thing is that I was looking at some competitors page speed, specifically: windowshelper.co
Their homepage and blog posts have a rating above 90 on Desktop and they have ads above the fold in almost all of them.
I have tried everything to get that page speed with my website showing ads, but nothing seems to work.

Like you can figure out, the site seems pretty simple and its something that I could accomplish with Themler but I want to know if there any possibility of accomplish the same page speed rating on my website.

Interessant wäre mal der Link zu Deiner eigenen Seite.
