I've been at this for a couple of hours now and I'm sure its meant to be simple but I'm struggling. I want to install a theme on Drupal. I have tried 2 ways.
1> I downloaded the blank_themler_drupal_theme placed thelmer in modules - When it was on my local server I needed to delete the top line to make drupal recognise it and allow it to be turned on (; $Id$ from themler.info). But I wasn't able to edit anything.
2> I downloaded Themler for Windows and created a rough them. I tried to save it as a zip to upload it and I kept getting permission errors. I went to c:/ProgramData/Themler and right clicked and made the entire folder and subfolder NOT read-only, but the error continues???

I have purchased the personal package and the Drupal CMS addon.

Its really complicated to get started. I'm also not sure if I'm meant to be building on my website as I go or to build the them and then export it to my website.

Your insight would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Brett

Hi Brett,

There is quite simple installation scheme for Drupal CMS:

  1. Unpack the downloaded theme archive.
  2. Open the /modules folder and upload "themler" folder to the Drupal sites/all/modules directory.
  3. Open the "themes" folder and copy the <themename> folder to the Drupal sites/all/themes directory.
  4. Go to the Drupal Administration >> Modules and enable "Themler" module.
  5. Go to the Drupal Administration >> Appearance and enable the newly installed theme.

NOTE: Once you have activated the theme, you will see that the <themename_preview> theme was also installed and activated - this theme is used for Themler Live Preview.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi Ivan,

Thanks but did you even read my question? Maybe I was unclear, I have done those steps. How do I edit my theme then once it is installed. This should really be a simple thing to work out, it is not well documented.

Hi Ivan,

I worked it out, I had to push the Edit Theme Button, simple but it should be more clear.

Whats the difference between the live and live preview skins?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm glad you've managed to resolve your issue.
We have another article about usage of Drupal themes:
http://answers.themler.com/articles/3728/how-to-use-drupal-theme

To be short, live preview theme - is your actual clickable website, while basic theme - is the theme you see while working with Themler.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

thanks, I think the documentation needs alot of work, I assume this is because the program is relatively new.
To begin with, do you enable the untitled theme or the untiled_preview, which one do you work on. I have been working on the untitled, however after reading the article I assuming now that untitled is more a base theme and that I should be working in preview - but not sure. Anyway working through it, its a great program and one that I have been waiting and searching for.

Cheers,

actually upon looking at it again I don't think its a base theme, as there is no Edit button in the preview, so I assume the preview just needs to be enabled but not actually worked on. ie: Work is to be done in the "untitled" theme.

Hi,

After you've installed your theme, you should edit your_theme_name, not your_theme_name_preview. It is explained in the article I've posted above.

Preview theme is only used when you click Live Preview while working with Themler.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,
Ivan
