How about some real training videos?

How about making some real training videos where you actually explain what is going on within themler? Not a recreation of a theme at light speed with no instructions. That's ridiculous. This is supposed to be easy to use software, but it is not. Quite confusing. Go over all the options at normal speed, and if making a website from scratch, go slow and explain what and why you do something. I'm so confused right now a refund would look great.

That makes two of us. I have no idea what Transitions are (I thought you were referring to a pair of glasses). Could anyone at Themler step in and tell us a) what are Transitions and b) how to find them and use them in a Themler theme and then how to save properly so the results show up when we want to use the theme?

I would like some real time training on exporting from artisteer and importing into themler, because everytime I try, the theme doesn't look anything like it should in themler.

Thanks

Mike Murphy

Mike,

This is a huge issue with Themler that seems beyond anyone's ability to communicate effectively.

Sometimes changes simply do not save and when you use the theme, half the changes are just not there. I have never gotten a clear, definitive answer on how to properly work on a theme, be able to save changes, and then work on it and eventually a) download it, and b) upload it into a live site and use it.

There seems to be a lot of language confusion issues with terms and it does not help at all that people get confused as to saving to Themler Cloud (online site storage) or via their own websites where they open up themer and work on a site within their site. So alot of people get stuck just trying to explain what they are doing and then the answers make no sense because of the confusion over the types of saving.

Obviously, all the wonderful folks at Themler could solve a huge problem for us developers by writing a "how to" on this and doing a few slow, step-by-step videos on the topic. That does not seem to be coming any time soon unless someone else does it....but I think we would all LOVE a video on how to properly save and how to properly import and export so our changes actually show up when we bring in / import the theme into a WordPress website. I mean, there are only so many ways you can explain the same problem, but so far, it defies explanation from what I can see in the forums and in the videos. There is no definitive way that will always work.

I tried uploading the chef theme into a site, and was able to work on it that way, in the back-end of my Wp site and use it at TattooYou.biz. I was able to save changes and use the theme there. Now, I've been trying to develop themes on the Themler cloud and try saving to that, so I can work on a theme, ongoing before I'm ready to upload (or export) it to a new client site.....so far it seems changes are saving but of course when I try to bring it (or import) it into the client site...will it show up as created? We have no real way of knowing and have to roll the dice.

That's no way to work as a developer, but for now it's all we have.

I know what they are, but dont know hot to trigger them on hover. Anything I tried failed, no reaction at all.
And some properties in transitions can have multiple arguments, something Themler refuse to use in one field.

Hello guys,
as you may know the update of video tutorials is one of our tasks. But right now we're working on the updating user interface and will start creating new videos as soon as new UI is ready.

If you have specific "How to" questions please submit separate public (if you do not need to provide access to your theme) topics on forum and we'll provide text "How to" solutions which would be visible for all users. Just lets do not mix different questions in a single topic.

Thank you for understanding.

Regards,
Aileen

Testing:

Embed iframe from Youtube works here. Put tutorial on YT channel and paste embed code here. If it is somethinng worth they will take it and put inside "Videos" page.

I would help but cannot. Never in my life made any tutorial video whatsoever.
I can try and see how it goes. Needs much practising because people dont wont to look your mouse in endless movements without a point.

Keep going writing what capture software is best, etc. Possibly freeware. Last week I installed Free Screen recorder from DVDSoft but mouse if flickering whole time.

At the very least, all current tutorials need to be added to YouTube and/or other video sharing sites. There is absolutely nothing related to Themeler on YouTube - not even user videos or even reviews

Also, the current videos are severely lacking in narration and detailed explanation.

I get the sense that the Themeler team is very small and doesn't have the resources to properly develop effective training materials or hire someone to do it in a timely manner. Until this is addressed, use and adoption of Themeler will suffer.

Quite honestly, I love what I see in Themler but just do not have the hours necessary to try to figure out why it will not work as you would expect it to. The biggest issue is just saving, importing, and exporting. I have already spent hours upon hours over the course of two weeks editing 3 themes that I saved to the Themler "cloud." When i tried using one in a demo site, more than half of the work I'd done in the theme simply was not there.

How can I work with that? I can't use Themler to do work for paying clients because I have no way of knowing what will save and translate over and what will not. If a client wants custom work done, I can use Artisteer because work will save. If I do work in Themler, I cannot know what elements will save and what will not - and trying to move elements and sections around doesn't seem to work, either, and there is no way to even half-way preview what you may end up with. This makes Themler a fun thing to play around with, but even then, it seems pointless to play with Themler when nothing can predictably and consistently be saved and no one can explain in any kind of list how to save work.

I'm over it. I can use Artisteer. If I need something beyond Artisteer and Billion Themes, I'll just edit those themes and get on with life. Maybe Themler will be something we can work with and use predictably one day, but it ain't now.

Hi Dave!

I assume that you are talking about the demo content you see in the theme that is not transferred. As was already said, Themler now does not create content, but this option will be available soon for WP and then we'll work for other CMSs. When working on cloud you indeed can not view the real site with your theme that's why we suggest to install the theme on the real site and then open Themler from the site back end. In this case you are able to load the content from the site into Themler to see how exactly the site will look like.
Regarding the problem with drag and drop of the elements. We would like to know more details if you can provide them to investigate the issue. Maybe you could create a separate topic for this issue if you want us to investigate it further.

Sincerely,
Hella

Most of the comments here seem to come from frustrated would-be users who are actually professionals in the website creation business. Since even YOU folks can't make it work anywhere near reliably there seems to be little hope for people like me who have been tempted by the "create themes without coding" strapline.

So can I ask: is Themler intended only for people whose main tasks are creating themes for clients, or also for people like me who need a website for a business or social purpose, need to use a CMS for that site, and need a theme for that CMS? If it's the former, let me know and I'll stop wasting my time and stick with Artisteer which I can at least comprehend and produce something usable in a limited time frame.

Many of the videos are largely incomprehensible as they are done so fast with little idea of what underlying task is supposed to be being achieved. Some seem quite general while others are dealing with a specific issue and it's difficult to see where they fit into any overall "document structure. As a newcomer to Themler I have looked at it quite a few times from the first announcement by Artisteer and am still baffled about some of the most basic aspects.

If Themler is going to have any significant take-up, someone there urgently needs to write an old-fashioned DOCUMENT saying in WORDS what the basic underlying concepts of the programme are. If the Themler business' resources are limited it might be better to divert some of them from "interesting and fun" technical work to deal with this, because at present it seems like a great idea but the level of underlying expertise needed to make anything actually useful is way too high. Dave's analogy of a mysterious tool provided by an alien race is very apt. The image of the apes with bones whacking the monolith in the movie 2001 Space Odyssey comes to mind!

Hello Steve,
thank you for your comments. We believe that anyone who wants to create a site design may use Themlers regardless of initial skills. I agree that Themler is more complex than Artisteer but it is more powerful.
You may consider watching simple videos from the "How to Use" section
http://answers.themler.com/articles/4695/video-tutorials
Also you may for free Themler theme which is pretty close to your needs or convert Artisteer theme to Themler format and see how it works.

regards,
Aileen

Consider using KineMaster Mod APK for creating your training videos. Its multi-layer editing and clear interface make it easier to produce detailed and instructional content. You can take your time to explain each step and add annotations or effects to highlight important points. This approach can help make complex software more accessible and user-friendly for your audience.
