Please note that Joomla 4 support is in Beta and thus minor issues are possible.

Note: Once the theme is loaded, you may need to update it to the latest Themler Beta version available, by clicking on "Updates (1)" notification* on the top. Please enable Beta update notifications in your Profile for this.
If there is no notification, you have the latest version - currently it is v.544.

Hello,

At the moment conversion of Joomla 3 themes to Joomla 4 is not possible yet. Joomla 4 theme differs from Joomla 3 theme significantly, so they cannot be used for each other.

In new Themler despite of Joomla 4 support there are no major changes.

Sincerely,
Nettie

What is the reason to start new project with old Bootstrap 3 framework (almost 10 year old), old PHP, and old jQuery? How can we told to our customers, that we use such old tech? Also Bootstrap 3 will freeze websites on Joomla 4, as we need to load fresh Bootstrap 5 and old Bootstrap 3 just because of Themler...

OK. So - to sum up all the bad news. This is easy for users who happen to come to this page (I'm assuming that Themler will then simply delete this entry - but what the heck - it's just a fact):
- no chance to upgrade templates vom joomla 3 to joomla 4 (all templates must be made new!!!!)
- no Bootstrap 5 (only Bootstrap 3, that is almost 10 year old)
- no php 8 (only older Versions)
- old jQuery
- no notable developments in themler for years
- sensational offer to switch from themler to nicepage (one tries to get the users away from themler - why!:)
I think and now really believe that themler is finally "dead" ...
Really: a shame - I really enjoyed working with Themler!

Hello,

We could understand that the templates have to be redone if there were major evolutions in this new version of Themler, but this is not the case.

If Themler remains unchanged, we should at least be able to update our theme for Joomla 4 compatibility.
Are you going to deploy this in the short term or never?

Thank you.

Regards,

Pierre

We keep it at its word. We have it in your reply that you will continue to support Themler. We cannot imagine that we will be rebuilding dozens of themes on the pages because the support for Themler has ended. Such a reconstruction of motives is temporarily impossible ...

In that case, once again, my simple query in this post, to which no one has answered us yet, and I see that you are answering in this post. When will we get the update to:

1.php8
2. bootstrap 5
3. new jQuery

I am asking for a clear answer. When are you going to update Themler.

Hello,

Thank you all for your feedback. However at this point we are sorry for not bringing good news for you. Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 themes are different in such extent that it can be said as if they were different CMS from the code point of view. So unfortunately, conversion of existing themes from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 is not possible and not expected in future updates.
However here are possible ways to make creating themes easier (if they are made to re-create old themes):
- organize controls in Sections and use Export as Zip option in the Section tab, then import them in a new theme using Import as Zip
- there are Export / Import options available in the Posts tab to transfer Posts layout and styling

Sincerely,
Nettie

Hello,

Yes actually it would be too expensive for you to develop the automatic feature so we have to do it by hand.

I’d be willing to do this by hand if there were any evolutionary prospects for Themler in the future, but we all understood that you’ll leave him to be abandoned.

I will keep Themler in a state of emergency and in transition, but I will have to find another sustainable solution.

That’s too bad. I don’t know how you can fall asleep at night! I couldn’t! Your business model and your relationship with humans remain a mystery to me.

Thank you for all the work you’ve done.

Nice day.

Sincerely,

Pierre

Hello,

Sorry to hear this indeed. We see your point. However we are not sure if another software for creating themes can manage conversion between these two Joomla versions, because it will be similar to converting themes from one CMS to another CMS. We hope that you will consider creating new themes in Joomla 4. Currently we are working at finetuning the existing version to make it Stable and hoping you will enjoy it.

Sincerely,
Nettie
