Dear developers,

out of nothing, I am getting an error with one of my webpages running a Themler Theme:

0 - Unknown named parameter $title

When I try to edit the theme in the backend, it says:

Too few arguments to function errorHandlerExportTheme(), 4 passed and exactly 5 expected

The site in question can be found here: https://www.ford-schmid.de/

Any idea what's going on here?

Sincerely,
Dan

Hello,

Have you updated Themler, Joomla version or PHP? Or possibly you have enabled any third-party plugin, component or module?

Sincerely,
Nettie

PHP was the troublemaker. Themler templates are not compatible with PHP 8.0. Are there any plans to change this in the future?

Meanwhile PHP 8.1 released and supported by Joomla 4.0.5. PHP 8.1 have Performance Improvements. But it's nothing compared with old Bootstrap 3 that need to load separately with Themler, while Joomla 4 and fresh extensions load new Bootstrap 5.

Hello,

I see. Indeed, the issue with Joomla 3 and PHP 8 is reported to our developers. Meanwhile please consider using an older PHP version like the latest versions of 7.x.
Themler theme for Joomla 4 supports PHP 8 (it is the recommended PHP version for Joomla 4). However, please note that the theme is still in Beta and therefore there are some issues reported to developers or under investigation - that need fixing.

Sincerely,
Nettie

Hello,

The version with the fixes will most probably be out already in the new year.

Hello Nettie, I updated today from php 7.4 to 8.0 and get still the above decribed error "0 - Unknown named parameter $title" with JOOMLA 3.10.11., when I use the login module of Joomla. Editing the theme works. The support of 7.4 ends in 3 month. When can we reckon with an update for Joomla 3 for that issue?

Medienagentur,

Could you please create a new private topic and provide there temporary access to your website for investigation? The issue is not reproducible in a stable way, so we need to look closer at the issue.

Sincerely,
Nettie

After more than a year of this are we just ignoring the issue then?
This is like Christmas in Australia - NOT COOL!

Is the solution really to stay on PHP 7.x forever then hey?

We were given a massive amount of warning and time that PHP 8 was coming to town, I cannot believe we are on the naughty list.

CHOOSE YOUR ERROR MESSAGE FOLKS:

IN THE RED CORNER, coming out of nowhere and weighing in at a blank white screen for all your front-end visitors to cheer for we have the undisputed REFRAIN OF PAIN!!!!

0 - Unknown named parameter $title and Too few arguments to function errorHandlerExportTheme(), 4 passed and exactly 5 expected

AND IN THE BLUE CORNER. Subtle and discreet by nature, more popular with your public but an administrators MASTER OF DISASTER, a security risk waiting to happen and sleepless nights guaranteed

Error
We have detected that your server is using PHP 7.4.33 which is obsolete and no longer receives official security updates by its developers. The Joomla! Project recommends upgrading your site to PHP 8.0 or later which will receive security updates at least until 2023-11-26. Please ask your host to make PHP 8.0 or a later version the default version for your site. If your host is already PHP 8.0 ready please enable PHP 8.0 on your site's root and 'administrator' directories – typically you can do this yourself through a tool in your hosting control panel, but it's best to ask your host if you are unsure.

2 heavyweights go head to head

THEMLER AND PHP8 NEED TO GET IT ON
BECAUSE THEY DON'T GET ALONG!!!!!

Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night
