Hello, I have more than 50 Joomla Themler sites. How to migrate the template to Joomla 4 version? Regards MichelHello,
Old themes are all for Joomla 3 and cannot be imported or converted for Joomla 4 automatically. The themes are completely different as if they were for different CMS's. That is why for Joomla 4 a separate theme should be downloaded and not just Joomla 3 theme with Themler update.
Here are possible ways to make creating themes easier (if they are made to re-create old themes):
- organize controls in Sections and use Export as Zip option in the Section tab, then import them in a new theme using Import as Zip
- there are Export / Import options available in the Posts tab to transfer Posts layout and styling
There is a separate Themler theme for Joomla 4. Currently it is in Beta. Please refer to this article for details: https://answers.themler.io/questions/212738/joomla-4-support-is-available-in-beta
There are several issues in it that should be fixed in the future update, so please try it with one theme first.
Sincerely,
Nettie
Hello Nettie,
Ok, i'am going to try the import/export in the Sections, so i hope the work for the new theme in Joomla 4 is then minimal.
When is the Joomla 4 template ready for use (not Beta). I'm noticing that PHP 7.4 is EOL (28 Nov 2022), so i must migrate all sites before this date to PHP 8 and Joomla 4, that's a short time....

In the latest update as of Friday some fixes has been included, but we are still working at full Joomla 4 compatibility of Themler theme. On the other hand, main fixes to support PHP 8 with Joomla 3.x has been included into the mentioned update, so you may consider trying some of the themes with PHP 8. We recommend making a backup in any case.
Sincerely,
Nettie
Hello Nettie,
Just the normal update, or must i choose the Beta update where PHP 8 for Joomla 3 is included?

Yes, please enable Beta update notifications, you may then check to make sure you have v.547. You may disable the notifications any time later.

Migrating templates from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 can be challenging, especially if you have more than 50 sites. Here are the key steps you should consider:
1. Check template compatibility: Make sure your current templates are compatible with Joomla 4. If you're using popular templates, check if there's a version available that supports Joomla 4. If not, you'll need to consider alternative Sprunked templates or updating your own templates.
2. Switch to the default template: During the migration, it is recommended to switch to the default Joomla 4 template, which is called Cassiopeia. If your template is not compatible, Joomla 4 will automatically switch to Cassiopeia.
