To add to the discussion, I tried 3 ways till Sunday (American expression) to upgrade from latest J3 to J4 to include the Themler upgrade path, for troubleshooting purposes, and I've noted it's best to start with a clean J4 install before installing Themler.

MercurioWeb WebStudio,

Unfortunately, with Themler desktop this way of updating will not work, as there is only Joomla 3 there at the moment. So just install the theme from our website on your Joomla 4 and update it right there to v.556.

The way with updating through Themler desktop is recommended for Joomla 3 themes.

Sincerely,
Nettie

Hi Nettie, as explained above, I cannot update themler from my website because when I try to enter themler I get the following error message: "Sorry, an error has occurred. Please clear your browser cache." Anyway, the theme I have installed is the one downloaded from your site https://themler.io/download. So it should be inclusive of the latest update.

Presently no, I'm not one of the developers but I've been down that conversion road and it was a no go.

Hello,

Old themes are all for Joomla 3 and cannot be imported or converted for Joomla 4 automatically. The themes are completely different as if they were for different CMS's. That is why for Joomla 4 a separate theme should be downloaded and not just Joomla 3 theme with Themler update.

Here are possible ways to make creating themes easier (if they are made to re-create old themes):
- organize controls in Sections and use Export as Zip option in the Section tab, then import them in a new theme using Import as Zip
- there are Export / Import options available in the Posts tab to transfer Posts layout and styling

There is a separate Themler theme for Joomla 4 at https://themler.io/Download. Currently it is in Beta. Please update it to the latest Themler version as it includes some fixes.

Sincerely,
Nettie

Importing sections and layout settings sounds like a good time saver for recreating existing templates and thank you for that info.
I did provide my Themler theme, admin Joomla backend access & FTP access in our private thread if that can help ID our current J4.1.5 hmenu display issue.

Havn't checked for a bit but see we are still at the stop sign. With the announced PHP 7.x and Joomla 3.x end of life dates, one could argue that the developers are under the gun but, not that much under the gun because there still a lot of time left on the clock. Which sucks for those having to make the decision whether it's worth renewing or not. I'm not complaining to complain, but minimal communications from the powers that be, would be appropriate here.
