Is there a way to convert Joomla 3 templates to Joomla4

Since a template is build by all kinds of data that is saved in Themler it should be possible to create a converter. Technically this can be done, but i understand it will take time for your development team.

Personally i use Themler for almost all the websites i create. I need to update about a 100 websites before august 2023, so a convertor is very appreciated.

Will Themler come with a solution?

Though there may still be a few bumps in the road, definitely good, solid advice and in my experience the best and cleanest starting point.

A point to bear in mind though is that Joomla 4 offers so much more than Joomla 2.5 / 3 did, meaning that the workflow to build a site from scratch is far more efficient and faster now, and, with the ability to do more things from the core, it may make you see things differently about how you shape the website.

I understand your comment, but there is also a period where we want to upgrade websites without completely rebuilding the websites. Lot's of these websites are still very recent and up to date and all the new features from Joomla! 4 are not commonly used by the majority of the users of this CMS.

When you need to upgrade around a 100 websites, you don't want to rebuild all templates from scratch

Hello,

At the moment this is unfortunately not in the nearest plans. Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 theme structure is so different as if these were two different CMS's. However I will surely forward your suggestion to our developers for possible future consideration.

Sincerely,
Nettie

What a bad excuse. I have over 100 websites which i need to update this year. I agree. It's better to start from scratch and i hope i'm will do that for about 5 or 6 websites, maybe 10. The others i just want to convert for now and do a rebuild when i have more time

I still think that Themler is build as an application. All the settings are saved in the software, so it should be possible to create a convertor. I'm a software developer myself and i have an opinion about this. I'm sorry

Please update Themler compatible to Joomla 4 and php8 and do it now, we all paid for updated software.
Otherwise you will be liable for damages and we will all be credited for the time it takes to finally fix the problem.
You also make yourself liable to all your Themler customers for damages if your colleagues suffer financial damage.
As your customers, we are not obliged to look for alternatives.

Hello,

Please find the theme for Joomla 4 and PHP 8 attached. There are some known issues there but they are not reproducible in all cases, so it can work for you,

Nettie

Will Themler come with a solution?

No, you will have to redesign everything.
The developersteam is not capable or willing to create a convertor.
They only want to make you pay and switch to nicepage

Continued in English: It seems like the only option for us to look for alternative software that can do the trick. Does someone have any good working suggestions. And to be specific upfront. Nicepage is not a good alternative for me. I'm looking for a template designer and not for a page designer.

they will not allow us to post a name of another template-designing software of framework...
If they see such answer in a topic, they delete it.

Yes, converting Joomla 3 templates to Joomla 4 is possible, but it requires some adjustments due to the differences in framework and structure between the two versions. Developers typically need to update the template's PHP code, ensure compatibility with Bootstrap 5, and adapt to Joomla 4's new features and standards. While the process may involve effort, tools and community forums can provide guidance for a smoother transition.

If you're looking for financial assistance during such updates, you might semakan str online for financial help to explore your options. It’s worth exploring all resources to support your project.

I think we are all aware of the fact that it is possible to convert a Joomla 3 template to Joomla 4 or 5 by changing the PHP code. Maybe i should have asked the question a little different. The question should be: Is it possible to convert a Joomla 3 Themler base set to Joomla 4 or rather to Joomla 5.

When this would be possible I would still use Themler for all my websites. If I have to rebuild everything anyway I evaluated if Themler was still the best tool to use. Since Themler stopt with giving real support and also not really put a lot of effort in maintaining the product. I have moved on to another solution.

Ashame, because I have been a big fan of Themler for years.

Great question regarding converting Joomla 3 templates to Joomla 4. In addition to handling deprecated code and template adjustments, it's important to consider the overall security and efficiency of your site Visit especially if you’re dealing with sensitive data. A robust template not only improves performance but also supports secure transactions, a key concern for financial, money, or banking websites. For those developing sites where financial security is as important as design, This resource offers strategies for building resilient, secure platforms that meet both modern design and financial industry standards
