I created a joomla4 template and now I want to edit it bus get the error: Not Found. The requested URL was not found on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Please how can this error be corrected?

kind regards,
Walter

Hello,

The “404 Not Found” error you’re encountering when trying to edit your Joomla4 template can be frustrating. This error typically means that the server can’t find the requested resource. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

Check the URL: Ensure that the URL you’re trying to access is correct. Sometimes, the error can be as simple as a typo in the address.
Verify Template Files: Make sure that all the necessary template files are uploaded to the correct directory on your server.
Permissions: Check the file permissions to ensure that your server has the right access levels to serve the files.
.htaccess File: If you have a custom .htaccess file, it might be incorrectly configured. You can try resetting it to the default Joomla .htaccess file to see if that resolves the issue.
ErrorDocument Directive: The error message suggests there’s an issue with the ErrorDocument directive in your .htaccess file. Make sure that the path to the error document is correct.
Joomla Redirects: Use Joomla’s redirect feature to fix broken links or incorrect URLs that might be causing the error.
Extensions: If you’re using any SEO or redirection extensions, they might be interfering with the URL routing. Try disabling them temporarily to see if that fixes the error.

I hope this step can resolve your query if your query is resolved please accept it as a solution.

To fix the 404 Not Found error in Joomla4, ensure the template files are correctly named and located in the appropriate directory. Also, check your .htaccess file for any incorrect rewrite rules that might be causing the issue. MyDestinyCard
If you’re editing from the backend, make sure the template is set as the default or is assigned to the menu item you’re trying to access.

nothing has changed on the server. After saving the template and exiting administrator this happened. When I try to edit the template now I get this error. The joomla4 installation was a clean one. Names have not been changed, htaccess file has not been changed
