I have mixed feelings
it necessarily will impact the options
We can not do what we do on Wordpress or PrestaShop
So if it's to lose functionality I do not want
This is true.
Alternatively, there could be something called Shared Design Environment that only supported CMS (similar) are able to be designed, In which will have a shared creation stage and only when it comes to export do you select what you want, replacing the button like wordpress, html5, joomla, drupal, etc when you launch the desktop version. It'll just be Shared Design Environment and those not compatible still on the listing with the theme created locked to the chosen CMS.
However, as I said before we will have to wait for the CMS content editor option before this can even be considered, and one thing we'll also have to think about is if already made themes could be converted over to this, otherwise a lot of people will lose out.
