how to update the themes in the future?

I have a question:

Today I created a theme for a client, with themler desktop that export Joomla v3.3.1.
i export the graphic theme as zip.
If I have to make changes in the future, but my client has not updated joomla, for exanmple joomla is v5.0 but my client still uses joomla v3.3.1 because his extensions are not available for joomla v5.0 updated, but I updated my themeler desktop, so i suppose my themler updated do not export more for v3.3.1 but v5.0.
In Artister was very simple to choose the version of CMS being exported, here I have not idea how to check what version of cms i export.
Another hypothesis is: how to update a theme together for the CMS?, for example today I do a theme dor v3.3.1, i export zip, how in future i can to re-export for joomla v4.0 or v5.0 because old theme will surely updated for new cms version.

I suppose i do not use export themes (because are final themes) but saved themes.... it is right?
so where i canfind saved themes of themler teskop (like .artx)?
to put it client folder of removable devices?

please help us, telling us how we can

1- make changes to old themes for cms outdated (example v3.1.1), ad export new themes changes to old cms 3.3.1 (because client cant update its cms for extension compatibility no new version )
or
2 - get old themes 3.3.1 and update it to new versions of CMS because client has updated his cms for example to v5.0
3- backup original theme (sourvìce files) in a folder of external disk, like .artx

Hi,

  1. We are trying to support all the actual CMS versions. If Joomla 5 is released, it will be supported and also if the support for Joomla 3.3 won't be a complicated task that will pull the development back then it will be supported as well and you will be able to export the template to the desired version. But if the old Joomla version support will require a lot of efforts, we can not guarantee that we will continue to support it. BTW, often when the new major version of Joomla is released, the old one is no longer supported by the Joomla development team.
  2. You can import themes into Themler and then export them. Or open them from the CMS back end in the editor and press the Update button in the top of the application.
  3. You can save themes in Themler, then use that saved theme. Also you can export the template and import it when you want that exact modification of the theme.

Sincerely,
Hella

>ten when the new major version of Joomla is released, the old one is no longer supported by the Joomla development >team.

I know that the development team dont support old version, but my customers who upgrading to cms major versions are very few, because the migration often involves problems and costs , I myself have many sites joomla 1.0 that are still online and work well from 2004.
many hosting providers know this problem and they also have the control version of php (php 4 included) for this, giving us the ability to install old cms
if I must to update the graphics theme after 5 years without updating the cms????
It can be a solution to keep all releases temler desktop and know wath version of cms export it, and reopen the source file with this old version of themler?

OK reexport because i use only desktop THEMLER

SO PLEASE DO CLARITY: THE EXPORTED ZIP THEMES IS ALSO SOURCE FILE LIKE AN .ARTX?

for example my hdd IS break and i lost all my saved work in themler desktop, but i have all exported .zip on a remavable drive made with themler desktop, i can reinstall to another pc and reimport only .zip to recover my work?

Hi,

  1. As I said before, 90% that Joomla 3 will be supported when the future Joomla versions will be released. In any case, if you need to do some minor changes in the theme like changing background or the color of some element, that can be done manually in the code, you can contact us for help.
  2. Yes, the exported theme is like the .artx file. In Artisteer there is no possibility to open the exported template. Themler allows to import the template exported from the application so you can keep them as your back up templates.

Sincerely,
Hella
