Working with a Default Template

Hello,

I seem to be confused on how to work with and develop a Default template. My goal is to develop an overall look and feel of a default template then tweak the look and feel for the Home page or Blog page or whatever page needs to be tweaked. What I am finding is that the Default template looks to be disabled and I am having to select each template individually (Home - Page - Blog - Post - 404 Text - Default) when making any changes. The Default template or view looks to be disabled which is confusing (attached image).

I must be doing something wrong but what view or template do I need to be viewing so that I can develop and make changes to an overall default template?

Thanks,
Brian

Hello

The Default template is disabled because there is nothing to show on this template (no content to show). Please follow the instruction provided in the message on the template page:

To turn on the Default template, simply create a Menu item....

Note: In fact, "Default" means "template of all other pages". This template works in the same way as all other templates (Post, Page, Home). You will need to config all templates separately except controls which was copied as links to other templates (right click on control >> "Copy" and then "Paste as link" on other template).

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hello Brian,
I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.
If you managed with the default template we may move the topic to Public. Should we do it or not?

No idea how to get this turned on. All the instructions I am reading do not seem to work.

I have a "Catagory List" menu item on the site but my desktop themler just keeps telling me Default Template is disabled.

Any suggestions?

I do not have issues with the desktop version. I have added the Login page for example.
Please make sure that you have the latest update of the desktop version.

I totally agree its about one of the worst explanations. What the heck does it mean to create a menu item of the chosen type that has no appropriate page template. And how exactly do you do that. Don't say turn on a menu item. How do you turn on the menu item exactly step by step if you are unfamiliar with the product giving vague directions doesn't help.

Ok so I figured out what you mean by create a menu item. You mean in the CMS wordpress, joomla etc create the menu item that doesn't exist.

Thanks for sharing this guide on working with default templates! It really clarified some of the basic steps for customizing layouts without breaking functionality. For anyone needing additional guidance on local procedures, I found the Washoe Court Trial section on this site to be very informative and easy to follow. It covers essential details in a clear, practical way. Definitely a helpful resource for beginners and pros alike.

Great post! Using a default template definitely makes starting a project easier, but customizing it really helps fit specific needs. For anyone managing property details, tools like Lake home evaluation can be a real time-saver in keeping track of current property info. I’ve found that combining templates with reliable data sources makes workflow much smoother. Thanks for sharing these tips!

Working with a default template can really speed things up, especially when you’re trying to keep layouts consistent across projects. I’ve found that starting with a solid base and then customizing sections as needed saves a lot of time in the long run. It’s similar to how property details are organized on sites like Marion real estate where structured information makes everything easier to navigate. A clear template just makes updates and scaling so much smoother.
