When I create a theme, the navigation tabs are missing (like when trying to edit a content type). Reverting back to a default theme displays the nav tabs again. I have attached 2 screenshots as examples. Am I missing something?

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.
Please make sure that you added Tabs Menu control (Insert tab >> Navigation):

Similar question: Tabs Menu (View, Edit) is only displayed for the "Home" page, and not for other content. How to be? The site editor can not edit the material. (Drupal 7, in Administrator mode)
Tabs Menu is embedded in the Sidebar. it shall be displayed on all pages?

Update

I`m added Tabs Menu under CMS Content. Result:
- template Home = menu is displayed at Home page,
- template Page = menu is displayed in content Page
- template Blog = menu not displayed but is listed in the left Themler column,
- template Post = has no effect,
- template Default = Eureka! Menu is displayed in other content.
(How many problem waiting for me more?..)

Hence the question: why do I need all these sufferings, why should I waste so much time?
I need only two template: Home and Default.
Please, give the opportunity to remove all the unnecessary templates! Where can I vote for this question?
I think many people support me.

Hi,

Unfortunately there is no option to remove templates.
Could you please create a Private topic and attach the theme? I want to check theme settings.

Thank you,
Olivia
