Hi everyone!

We want to make a small survey to find out what you think about further way of development of Themler.

Please vote for this topic if you want us to focus on development of Content Editor, Content Sections, etc.
Feel free to post here any feedback or describe your experience with Content Editor, using of Content sections in WordPress, Joomla, etc.
We have plans to improve Content editor, include WYSIWYG editor (TinyMCE probably), support content editing for other CMSs, add more and more Content Sections, etc.

This simple demo demonstrates how to create a new WP page and edit its content in Themler.

Please check "Survey: Template Editing" topic if you want us to focus on development of template editing.

Thank you,
Themler team

Hello Themler Team.

I think that both options are important and should be further worked on.
About the content editor, i can only talk from my perspective, and I hope it helps.
The current state of the content editor looks promising, though it is a bit of a mess. a few of my sites have some formatting problems, and i think it has a problem with working with other shortcodes...
But, as I know you will be going to fix this, i can see a really bright future for the content editing.
The only problem I have with the current implementation is, that i can't give my client the option to edit the content with themler, and if i edit content with themler, the text and code will be shortcodes, and this means that if i give this to the client, he can't edit it in the future.

I really think themler should somehow implement a way of giving clients a stripped down option to use themler for basic editing, and content editing, without the need to pay the money.

In this way, the client will get the best content editor, and have integration with the best theme building and developing software ever!

I get a lot of requests from clients to have areas and parts of the theme they can edit themselves, and this creates a lot of problems for me, I work in wordpress and i need to create some widget areas for the clients, and sometime they mess things up. Themler is great for building any theme i can imagine, i have already built 100's of sites with it! but from a perspective of giving clients the site afterwards and that they can edit it in a good way without using and paying for themler, that is my biggest problem currently, because i know all the small bugs will be fixed sometime.

So, in conclusion, if Themler works on its content editing and somehow makes the editing work good and give an option to edit the content to customers without a Themler subscription, you will nail it and become the only software that can do it!

Ofcourse I know that you need subscribers so you get money and continue to be a viable business, so there must be someway to do these two things and still grow your business..

I would gladly pay an extra fee for getting a special option to let customers edit parts better with themler themes without buying the whole themler subscription.

Thanks for your time and I hope you continue your great work!!!!

Shaul.

Hello.

I think that for Content Editing we have CMS (Content Management System). So what is the reason to convert Themler to WYSIWYG editor?

For content editing we have CMS (Joomla, Wordpress etc.) with build in WYSIWYG editor plugins (TinyMCE, JCE etc.).

Convert Themler to the Content Editing is a wrong way (IMHO).

I agree with some shaulhadar reasoning:

The only problem I have with the current implementation is, that i
can't give my client the option to edit the content with themler, and
if i edit content with themler, the text and code will be shortcodes,
and this means that if i give this to the client, he can't edit it in
the future.

Actually, Content Editing is good for HTML version of Themler, but not for CMS based versions.

The best way is develop plugin for CMS with list of Shortcodes to insert it inside CMS if someone want to simply insert shortcode without copy / paste from Doc page.

So, my vote for Template Editing topic.

Hi guys,

Thank you for your comments.
The popularity of the websites built with Sections has grown over the past few years.

How to create WP or Joomla modern pages with content sections with TinyMCE?
How the end user will be able to add or edit content sections?
How it is important for you to allow end users modify WP/Joomla "Sections" Content?

To allow end user to edit WP/Joomla content we want to provide Themler Light version
that allows to make basic operations like add section, text editing and image changing for free without license requirement.

BTW, Content Editor development does not mean stopping Template Editor direction.
We just want to better understand how to use Content Editing optimally.

Thank you,
Themler Team

My vote is for the content editing option. I think now with themler we can do a nice frontpage template but if we have more facility to design the "interior contents" with more tools like a content editing, we are going to have a killer design tool.

For example now I want to design pages and posts with more design elements to make a more completed design. if I had this option, we had a complete tool to make complete websites without using a third party webdesign tool.

Pedro,

Could you please create a separate private topic and describe the issue you're facing with Content editor in more details? It would be helpful to see the issue also. If possible please provide the access to the CMS admin panel too.

Javier,

The latest major Themler update includes content editing feature for WP and Joomla. Did you try it?

For example now I want to design pages and posts with more design elements

What exactly design elements you're missing in Themler?

Thank you,
Olivia

Maybe it's possible to create component / plugin for Joomla / Wordpress to create content sections inside CMS? It's too much time to develop this extensions for CMS, but it will be realy nice solution.

Something like SP PAGE BUILDER (here is video demonstration: https://youtu.be/dqRzj05CySA) but closely integrated with Themler.

Is it possible?

My favourite content editor for Wordpress:

The content editor for Themler will be something similar to this? With this plugin we could make nice interior page designs...

Я проголосовал за оба варианта. Потому что нужно и то и другое. Возможность создавать контент со сложными элементами дизайна для меня является основополагающим.

Another example for Joomla: JSN PageBuilder (here is video demonstration: https://youtu.be/phGBrrK_vaU)
And wonderful solution for WP: Visual Composer (here is video demonstration: https://youtu.be/AD2nshcKrBE)

Maybe something like this Themler team can develop for Joomla and WP? It will be very powerfull solution without shortcodes (shortcodes is very uncomfortable especially for customers IMHO).

SP Page Builder, JSN PageBuilder and Visual Composer - great examples how the content editing should look like and must be.

What do you think about this way of content editing, Themler team?

Vitaly,

Shortcodes are only method to store controls/sections in CMS content, VisualComposer and others work in the same way.
Of course you will be able to edit content visually, not as shortcodes.

Thanks,

For example, to change page content visually in WordPress:
1. Run Themler
2. Select needed Page
3. Edit Content
(Add/Change Sections, Change Text, Change Image, Add/Move Controls, etc.)

that will be nice!

Just one note: If we have button in Template "Edit content" - there will be some confusion. Part of content will be available to edit in native Joomla / WP WYSIWYG editor and other part (if need sections etc.) only in Themler by button "Edit content" inside theme / template?

I think that all that relates to edit content must be in one place and this place is a native Joomla / WP WYSIWYG editor (TinyMCE, JCE etc,)

So what can we have:
1. If we want to edit Template - we have button "Edit template" in template / theme.
2. If we want to edit Content - we have button "Sections editor" in native Joomla / WP WYSIWYG editor.

If it will be that - it will be nice.

Vitaly,

OK, you already can try it!
Latest Themler update integrates both: Template and Content editing.
If you change Template it saves to theme, if you change Content it saves to WP Page/Post as shortcodes.

Thanks,

Same thing with wordpress.. I insert a section on a page and it shows up on all "pages", except of the home page.

I used Artisteer for Joomla sites in the past and i'm now exploring Themler.

From my first experience trying to edit Joomla's content (articles) using new Themler's feature, it seems to me that changes to content are saved only on a template's "scope" and they have no effects on the real article's content, the one i see in the back-end.
I try to explain this :
- i installed a template created with Themler on my Joomla site and i set it as the active template
- i created one article in the Joomla backend and i associated it to the homepage (that is : to the menu item corresponding to the site's URL ) . What i see in the content's area of homepage is exactly the article's content.
- I edited the template using the EDIT TEMPLATE button : i can see the article name in "Posts" ( under "Content and Sidebars" ) but i cannot see it's current content ( which i created in Joomla's backend) in the Themler preview area
- still in Themler's interface i put some text as article's content and i save, then i go back to Joomla : now in the front-end i can see the text i've put using Themler, but on the back-end the article's content has not changed, it is the same i created in Joomla initially ! If i switch to another template i will see the original ( real ) article's content, as expected.

Is this the normal behaviour of the new editing feature ?

If yes i think it will be not useful, because it would be "inconsistent" with the real content.

... maybe i understood now : i was confusing 2 "homepage", asscociated to 2 different menus,
the menu i used before and the one imported with content of Themler template.

When i edit Themler template i must import/add its content, this is separate from original content.
