DNN Themes (Beta version)

Look forward to the update!!! A user control bar for top menu or even inside the header would be great, or above the header. Possibly even adding another menu that only shows controls for profile, search, user, messages would be awesome! This way we can make themes that look similar to Yahoo and MSN easily.

Making the Login, User, Messages, Notifications, Profile Pic controls that can be added one at a time maybe a cool way to use these inside our themes as well.

DNN Version 8.0 just released so some changes have been made to the DNN core not sure if this is something that effects Themes at all but just a heads up.

We plan a separate control called "Top Menu" with hardcoded profile items: Login, User, Messages, Notifications, Profile. This control will be similar to existing "Horizontal Menu".
In addition to this we'll fix the Search control and it will be available for adding to the skin.

In about a week or two the new update will be available ad beta version with the following fixes:

• issues with Search control;
• problems with display of admin pages;
• controls inside Sidebars are not exported with theme;
• The next Themler update will include position control. You will be able to add DNN place to any place on the page.

At this stage Themler themes will be very close to Artisteer themes before content importing. Except Vertical Menu. But this update will have position control.

Anyway, after this update we decided to temporarily freeze DNN themes development because we received a very few feedback about current version of DNN themes. If no one using it there is point in spending time on developing additional controls, etc.

I was finding where to post my suggestions and just found this.
I think there are more people will interest this product and the Artisteer users + new users. Once you provide a stable version for DNN with more important features, you'll get the attraction. The most of the users are finding a good product and 90% of them will not spend much time to test and see what it will do for you. This is the reality. But I am keen on this and I was a beta tester for Artisteer 2 (when it introduced DNN for Artisteer) too.

I saw you were requesting an answer for the previous poster's post and my the answer is below.
Q - as the current one is not really usable for dnn. --What exactly you think we should improve in the current version of dnn themes?
My Answer - Exporting the contents as it is to DNN.

A few questions from mine as well.
1) Do we need a license to test this beta version in the localhost websites?
2) I installed the Windows version and it installed on C drive by default. Can't we change the default path to another drive like we did in Artisteer?
3) Can't we buy Themes from BillionThemes for DNN and can edit in Themler for Windows Software?
4) Can't we Export the edited content in the Themler software and use it in DNN site with the Themler theme?
5) Can't we create and export testing Themler themes with Themler software? If you advise me to buy it, I can buy and if you recommend me to use these produced themes to use in production sites.

Please continue the product and we need your product only for DNN. Please, let us know if there's anything else from us.

DNN is included into the Themler Business subscription. If you have active Artisteer license you can get it for free.

No, unfortunately.

Can I buy any Themler theme in the store and to use to edit and generate a DNN skin? Or not available Themler theme for DNN now?

Unfortunately themes for different CMSs are different. You cannot convert, for example, WP themes to DNN theme.

Not exactly. You can't edit content in Themler for DNN. The dummy content do not go into the theme (a lorem ipsum text). Any text added into the theme (using Text controls, for example) will be a part of the theme. You will not be able to edit in in DNN.

For example, you can create unique home page using Themler sections. For this you need to add desired Section to the Home template outside shared areas (areas with orange border). Then you need to export theme, install this theme in DNN, assign Page template to all pages and then override default template of the Home page under the page settings. You will get unique Home page. But you will not be able to edit the content of these section in DNN. They only way is manual editing of the theme code.

I purchased an Ecommerce version and now trying your beta version. I think I can not test and see DNN themes without purchasing the product.

Anyway, I created a testing theme using Themler and created a DNN skin. It did not install on DNN 7 site. I 'll open a private ticket and will provide you the testing results.

Please, can you create and make available a few DNN themes in the billionethemes and create a few pages to export from the store? Then we can try to import and test.

Please, give the same priority to the DNN improvements as well. If you have a strong product and if it support DNN well, then the customers will be on your hands.

Support for DNN was the sole reason I purchased this product. I have been using Artisteer for a long time. I would really appreciate the Login support for the DNN skins. Without it, there is no way to log into the site, unless you add a page and drop the Login.ascx module onto it. But that does not give you the option to logout.... :(

As alternative to menu you can try adding HTML control in Themler or DNN HTML module in DNN with quick Login/Logout links:

The updates for DNN is not much faster from Themler development team I think. Still, we can not add Login controls to the menu. Please can you advise how to add the login control with the same css like in the menu?

For this you should wrap the suggested code in the list with classes of the menu. But the classes are dynamic and you should check the exact menu classes used in your theme in the page source. For example:

Can't we add these classes with Login and User controls instead of page links? It is much professional and This is not nice to add just for links. We have to give two links for the login link and user can not find if he has logged in or not too.

You can, of course, but it will not affect. These controls are not simple links. They have own structure, like additional DIV wrapper. Themler uses > css combinator to control the style of menu links. It means "direct child". The additional DIV breaks this structure and css rule will not affect.
