Defining sheet size / fill and background

Very Themler noob so don't laugh too much. I'm struggling with probably fairly basic issues just to set up the work space to try making my first Template in Themler for Joomla.

So say I wanted to start creating a site that on desktops has a "box" with the site 800 px wide centred (the Sheet width or page width??), with that 800px wide area filled white, and with a tinted background to the left, right and perhaps a little at the top and bottom. In Artisteer that is trivial - go to Sheet > Width and put in 800 px, and fill it white; Go to Background and make my choice of tint, photo or whatever. Then get on with designing!

In Themler, I've chosen Layout > Boxed (is that right?). Then how do I define the sheet/page area as 800px wide for my content, so that area is centred horizontally on screens (at the moment my area appears to left of my preview screen), and and give it a white fill (so I don't have to give every other element a white background and define the width of each of these elements - eg Headline, slogan, footer - individually)? Is that possible? I am wading around randomly amid thousands of options I don't understand just to achieve this!

I have managed to use the Design > Background button to create my background fill.

Thanks for any help to get started!

Hello,

I'll answer for the width of the grid.
1. Home Menu
2. At the end of the tab, settings menu
3. In the right of the screen, you will find adjustments.

Thank you very much.

"Grid": very useful to learn about a meaning of this word in Themler.

That has succeeded in moving most of my site away from the left, into the middle, and giving it the site the right-ish width, which is good.

Except for I think the header elements - headline, slogan, menu, breadcumbs and another module I tried to create, which cling, resolutely, to the left of my screen. Would I need to move those manually somehow? Or should I start with a new template, first setting the grid?

Cheers

Hello Philips,
I believe that in his answer Serge means by Grid the "area where page content is displayed"

I'd recommend that you refer to basic docs at http://answers.themler.com/Doc/Index

Please feel free to ask any question here too.

regards,
Aileen

Thanks. Just attempting to return to this....

So, if it's not a stupid question, and all that: do I have to set this page area/the background gradient etc for every "Page" template - eg Home, Post, 404, etc, manually ?? I understand some elements eg header/footer can be set to universal (within orange frame, as explained at https://answers.themler.com/articles/4783/how-to-share-controls-between-different-templates - [which seems to refer to a different Themler interface?]), but not the basic area like page width/background style etc?? How do I replicate these - I don't find that clear in the basic info doc.

While flexible for a few websites, seems a bit cumbersome for most relative to Artisteer, so what's the trick?

I think one issue for me is that there are so many different places to find information about how to do things: I can see the thinking behind having each article hyperlinked but I'd really prefer a manual that perhaps then uses hyperlinks within it.

Cheers

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in replying.
Normally the Design >> Background option should edit the background of all templates unless the Customize template style option is selected. But it is not working now, I'll ask our developers about that.

Sincerely,
Hella
