How To Have Multiple Page Templates in HTML

Themler for HTML seems very weak at the moment unless I'm missing something the whole point would be to design beautiful unique pages for each page required eg about us, services etc, all containing unique 'sections' from your beautiful library.

Unfortunately when you go to add a new page you have to pick from 'home' or 'page' templates only and the 'add template' button doesn't appear anywhere. I have the latest Themler version.

Basically being able to design an HTML site that has home, one page type, one blog type and a post type isn't very useful and definitely falls short of a full builder.

I'm a paid member and the reason I'm not doing this in Wordpress or whatever is there are just so many problems trying to do what I want (feature image locations... etc) with the wordpress elements it's going to be easier for me to just take the html and use another CMS and integrate it myself from the designs. But it's a pain if I can't design and export the whole site in one go, and instead have to design each of my pages as one HTML page and save them all sep because 'add page template' isn't possible in the HTML editor.

Hi,

Indeed, there is no possibility to add custom templates to the HTML template. You need different templates to create different sidebars or what? The content can be unique for each page if placed within the Content container.

Sincerely,
Hella

I want to use different layouts (ie different ones of your sections') for different pages. I don't just want a bunch of plain pages with some different content, I want to design an about page, design a services page, all that look beautiful. The current HTML thing just doesn't do it. I don't think there's any way I renew Themler when my sub runs out tbh. Everything beyond laying out and customising the most basic possible templates is a nightmare. It kinda works but... you really have to scale back your ambition to virtually keeping it as simple as a quick bought template with a homepage design. Once you start trying to put together fancier layouts and move the content elements around like you want things keep breaking. And not even supporting that at all on the HTML.... like why not just allow as many pages as you like, in as many layouts as you like in HTML? That's how static HTML sites work...

If the 'content' part allowed one to add your sections etc then it would be fine, of course, but it doesn't seem to.

Hi,

That's the point, you should be able to add all the desired sections within the Content area. There is a green plus sign within the content area to add a section. What issues do you have about that? Please provide more details. Maybe we are talking about some different elements.

Sincerely,
Hella

Hi Hella,

I will try again and send a video or screenshot or something. I was unable last night to add sections to the content area... but maybe it was just glitching for some reason. I'll try with a totally fresh template in case something is corrupted on the one I was working on.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Hi Hella,

Yeah it looks like my save file is broken somehow. I'm not sure if there's a way to fix it - I had clicked the 'update' to get it to the latest version of Themler etc but no change. You can see the difference in the two snips of what's available - in one I have all the options - header, footer, page: etc etc. In the one I've been working on the whole layout thing is just showing 'template:home' and that's all I can edit.

Is there a way to fix it or do I need to start again?

Cheers.

Could you please attach the problem template (exported with the editor included) so we could test it on our end.

Sincerely,
Hella

Hello Steve,
I checked the theme. Actually I see no problem with Home page or editing its controls.
The page was created with pre-built Sections, all elements are editable: I may change images, edit text, change text on buttons, etc.

All controls are editable

LeftTab.png

Have you tried to edit the controls I mentioned? What exactly happens then?

regards,
Aileen

Hi Aileen,

That's not the problem. One page can be edited, but what I mean is in that save file making additional totally different pages is impossible, but if I make a new file and start again per the images I shared in this post above:

in one I have all the options - header, footer, page: etc etc. In the
one I've been working on the whole layout thing is just showing
'template:home' and that's all I can edit.

I then have the proper areas 'header all templates' template:pagename etc and can make multiple pages, share headers and footers and all the usual stuff.

I think the save file is maybe broken because it was started a while ago and a fair few updates to your software since and I may just have to start again.

If not and you can 'fix' it... please do.

Cheers

Hi,

I'm a little bit confused. Now you have the home page and other pages looking totally different as you wished. In any case on the Home page you have added all the sections within the content, even the header and footer sections, so they are the part of the particular page content and on all the other pages the header and footer are presented as the shared controls. If you want the Home page to have them as well, you need to open it, navigate to the Layout tab and enable header and footer there. Then place the header you want to appear on all pages within that Header area.
So I'm still not sure what exactly you want to achieve. If you have several marked screen shots of what you want to do on other pages, that may help.

Sincerely,
Hella
