The parallax effect applies background-attachment: fixed; to the image. It means that the background will be fixed with regard to the viewport. This may affect the visibility of the image.

Zoom is necessary in order to show the other part of the picture when the page scrolls. The smaller image (relative to the visible part the page) - the greater the magnification.

With these features, this effect works best on large pictures, stretched across the page, or even be the width of the post.

But why can one not set width on parallax images to be 100%... in most cases one are using less in y so the zoom is really totally lame no matter what! If one want a image to be full 100% in x then make the image taller to make up for all other screens would be a far more superior way to do it... the zoom destroy it all!

Unfortunately the functionality of the parallax effect is hardcoded. It uses fixed background attachment. The behavior of images with such attachment is controlled by browser and cannot be changed from our side. Without this behavior the parallax background effect will not look good.
