Yes when I duplicate or create a new custom template, the footer, header, sidebars, sections, columns, etc all change on the other templates. Is there a list of controls that are shared, and a list that aren't. It drives me batty when I design a layout, and then go back to realize I can't use it because it is a shared control/section/etc. The other thing that behaves in the same manor is responsive views. Again because some things are shared, and other things aren't, it triples the development time, not knowing what is going to change and what isn't going to change from view to view, and from template to template. This by far is the worst aspect of this program. Wouldn't it be easier to have a tab for shared controls, and another for unshared controls? Honestly I have been an Artisteer user for a long time, then came to this, and I am very close to simply dropping this software for Dreamweaver because the developers simply can't get an intuitive interface correct (that seems to change as the wind blows and was a problem in the original Artisteer program as well.) You guys need to sit down with users, and figure out how to design a user interface so that people can actually us it so these little surprises stop happening and frustrating your clients. There is nothing wrong with the Ribbon, but again it is how you organize the features that makes it particularly bad. My suggestion design a flowchart and get your ducks in order so that your users can know exactly what feature/layout/design affect other areas of the program.
