Restoring Joomla Template into Themler

Hi all

I'm desperately trying to restore a Joomla template with its database back into Themler. I need to do some work on a website urgently. The Themler on my existing computer has crashed and support can't help me out.

I've installed Themler on a new computer and I have an Akeeba backup of the site. I have used Akeeba kickstart in the past but only on the live server, not the one built into Themler.

I have tried it but get an error when kickstart tries to create the database.

Has anybody tried doing this and if so, can you give me a step by step guide as to how you succeeded in doing so.

It seems that if you do have to get a new computer, it isn't that easy to transfer over any data.

Many thanks in advance,

David

Hello,

Have you saved your Themler theme in Themler or Exported it as ZIP?

Hi

What I did was this:
1. I managed to get the zip file back into Themler so I have the design but no data.
2. I copied kickstart.php and the .jpa file into the root of my Joomla directory [under themler_numbers/joomla].
3. I navigated to themler_numbers/joomla/kickstar.php which opened kickstart. It then extracted the files
4. I then ran the installer, got to the "Restoration of site's main database" section, hit next and it comes up with:

An error occurred while restoring the database. The error message can
be found below. Click on the × button at the top right of this dialog
message to close it and return to the database restoration page.
Unable to connect to the Database: Could not connect to MySQL.

Not sure where I am going wrong. I'm assuming that kickstart will be able to create a database etc., since there is not one there. I left everything as default by the way, so username root, no password and Database name I left as it was - maybe this is where I am going wrong?

Thanks for your help; much appreciated.

Best regards, David

Update:
I've looked at the database credentials on the live server and I tried again using the same database name and password to no avail.
I'm wondering if kickstart can actually create a database if one isn't already there. If not, I'm not sure what to do next.

Looks likes there may be a serious flaw with Themler in that if your system crashes, there doesn't seem to be a way (or at least an easy way) to rebuild all of the data, even with backups.

Hopefully you have a suggestion?

Many thanks, David

Hi

I've now managed to get the data back using kickstart. However, although I managed to get it back into the original installation, I cannot restore it onto a new installation of Themler on a different computer.

Can you please help.

Thank you, David

Hi,

Your problem is also discussed in numerous other cases, please do not duplicate cases for a single problem.
The Themler desktop was ideologically created to be used for design creations. The localhost that is installed with the desktop application is not supposed to be used as the development site. Also you know that Themler now does not export content. But in the current beta version we have implement the export of the WP and Joomla content, that exports pages and posts (but not menus and modules).
So if you need to develop the whole site and also create the design, it's better to do it on the ready site installed on the hosting or use Themler themes on your localhost.

To summarize, the main idea of the desktop version is to give you a dummy content to help creating the design.

Sincerely,
Hella
