Moving Themler to Another Computer

Hi

I thought that I should let everybody know that there may be a big problem with Themler if it ever crashes, or if you want to upgrade your computer.

The scenario I had was that Themler would not start. I ended up having to re-install it and although I eventually got back my template files, all of the Joomla data (articles, menus etc.) had been lost.

I also tried installing Themler on another computer, moved over all of the files but had the same issue - templates there but no Joomla data.

Although support has tried helping me out, there doesn't seem to be a solution.

I did a backup using Akeeba as Themler suggested but what they don't tell you is that it is of no use if you want to install it into a new Themler installation: At least I have not shown how to do so if it is possible.

Although I think that Themler is a great product and support is normally pretty good, I'm now wary about using it in case I ever want to upgrade my computer.

If anybody out there has had a similar problem and has found a solution, I would be very grateful.

Many thanks, David

Hi,

In general, you will face the same issue if you install xampp (wamp, lamp, etc) and CMS.
Themler Desktop is a package of Apache+MySQL server and CMS + theme with Themler.

There is no native feature for transferring full installation to the new computer because the Themler is a tool for designing themes. It's better to add and configure all content on the final server.

If you need constantly transfer local webserver between computers you can use xampp (wamp, lamp, etc) and CMS. You will not see the real difference between Desktop and your own local webserver.

Thank you,
Olivia

Hi Olivia

I have just installed Xampp so I will try that out. If I can't manage to import/export databases with it, the problem will be that I will only be able to try out any data on the live server, which is not what I expect from Themler.

I am very surprised that there is no solution for transferring an existing joomla installation, together with all of the data and templates to another computer. Or am I missing something; is there a way to do this?

Best wishes, David

Hi,

As Olivia described above, Themler desktop application is a localhost server with the CMS and theme installed. So it works as the simple server. If you know how to transfer localhost from one computer to another, you can do that.
Whe workin on your XAMMP installation you can use the database tools that will export the site database and it will be available to import on the other server.
Also we are starting to implement the Export Content option for WP and Joomla sites so you will be able to export the cotent with the theme. Note, that it includes only pges and articles, modules, widgets and menus are not exported as the content.

Sincerely,
Hella

To move Themler to another computer, install the software on the new device and copy the project files. If you need content generation support, try using an auto essay writer tool for efficiency. The assignment desk offers expert guidance to simplify tasks like these, ensuring seamless transitions and high-quality results. Stay organised and back up your data to avoid loss during the process.

Hi David,

It sounds frustrating dealing with Themler crashing and losing Joomla data. While I love enjoying a classic game like Retro Bowl after a tech hassle, I recommend keeping regular backups to avoid future headaches. Have you tried reaching out on forums? Other users might have faced similar issues. Until you find a solution, maybe it’s a good time to enjoy some Retro Bowl to relieve the stress!

Moving Themler to another computer can be tricky for a lot of people and there are a lot of people who are facing troubles. By using it we can troubleshoot the problems and it provides us the desired results. When I used quality industrial epoxy coating I saw it was providing the desired solutions.

It’s really frustrating to lose Joomla data when transferring Themler between computers, and I often unwind by checking out fun guides on Horseywiki after troubleshooting these tricky tech problems.
