Is there a way to force the mobile site on a tablet? Can I change anything in the css file?

Hello Ben,
in fact all theme controls are adapted for the screen size, so there's no need in special actions exactly in Tablet mode. However you may force horizontal menu to be displayed in responsive mode in Tablet. To do it open Horizontal Menu >> Responsive >> Enable Responsive >> Tablets

It is recommended not to edit the .css file directly but ass all custom CSS code under Home tab >> Settings >> Additional CSS
