Need scrolling help from expert please!

I have the slider extension set: fix to scroll.

However, there are issues I can't seem to overcome. First, the slider does scroll to the top instead of staying put where I have it before it stops scrolling. Second, everything else on the page goes to the background behind the slider even though z-index is set correctly, at least prior to scrolling. What am I missing? Any one out there know what I'm doing wrong?
