Changing templates by menu

In the old days I could build two templates and assign them to the menu items I wanted them to show in. But when I do this today with two or more Themler templates the template doesn't change. How do I make the template change based on the users menu choice?

Hi,

The assignment logic has not changed. What exact CMS you are using? We have an instruction for each CMS on how to work with the custom templates.
