In Wordpress you can work around this bug by going to Editor (Appearance > Editor), clicking on and opening all the .php files listed down the right side, and searching for the social keyword (like "twitter" or "facebook"). You will find the href link for the social icon. Just cut and paste the correct URL between the two quote marks and click Update.
Note: The Social URLs are not centrally located in one .php file. Best to open and search them all for the offending social links. In my case, it was about twenty different .php files.
