Themler Desktop Fails to Load

Not entirely sure this is a bug, but I am unable to load Themler desktop anymore. I'd been working in it all day and seemed to have caused an error where I was managing pages (Wordpress) and invoked the WP Themler editor. Realizing I wanted to be in the Desktop version, I closed the Chrome browser page were I had been managing the pages. When I tried to save my theme, I received errors that I already had Themler open elsewhere. The application then crashed and failed to start again despite several computer reboots.

I followed instructions to back up my themes and uninstalled/reinstalled the Windows desktop version of Themler. But it still does not start. I don't get any errors, just a spinning icon in my task bar. The status bar simply says "Waiting for 127.0.0.1..."

The log is apparently too long to paste here, so I've pasted the back half of the log with an error.

ERROR:Unable to find file C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming..\Local\Themler\ChromeData\chrome_debug.log

I'm not sure, but the last line seems wrong - you can have ...\AppData\Roaming OR \AppData\Local, but the correct path appears to be ...AppData\Local\Themler\ChromeData. And no, there's no chrome_debug.log there.

Please advise.

Hi,
Of the items noted in the support article:

1) The Diagnostics tool and error encountered were enclosed in the original message.
2) There were no issues during install and install log indicates such (attached)
3) I do not use a proxy and the software was working fine without changes to antivirus/firewall prior to incident.
4) I do not get an ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE on startup, probably because we never get to that point.
5) I do not get a browser cache error. Browser cache was dumped anyway and did not resolve the problem. Since I can't open Themler, I can't dump the cache from the DevTools. Renaming the ChromeData folder did not fix the problem.
6) Finally, I can't run Debug mode because it doesn't exist in the install I received.

Please note that I installed Themler on a laptop and was able to run it fine from that laptop. However, I'd prefer being able to use it on my more powerful screen.

Please advise.

Hello Pam,

Please follow the steps below:
1. Backup all theme folders somewhere on your computer.
2. Uninstall Themler completely and also check the box for "Remove all CMS content".
3. Check if the following folders are still present:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Themler
C:\ProgramData\Themler

4. If they exist, remove them.
5. Reboot the machine after uninstalling Themler, so that all Themler services are removed for sure.
6. Download latest version of Themler for Windows from themler.com, install it and try to start with Themler for Wordpress and create a theme.
Please let us know the result.

Hi Pam, I had a similar issue with software not starting after a crash and it took me some time to figure out file paths and missing logs. Your note about the incorrect path makes sense and could be the root cause. While troubleshooting, I was reminded of how I had to check fines by license plate (consulta multas por placa) with ANT in Ecuador—having the right access and path made all the difference in resolving issues quickly. Maybe try clearing cache or reinstalling with admin rights and double-check those folder permissions. Hope you get it fixed soon!
