I've made a template containing a lot of sections I could use in another website also.
So I've put all what's ment to stay together in a section.
In the menu-options of the section I can export it.

however... if I create a new website, and want to insert the section, all data, color-codes, backgroundd, etc is all gone

Am I doing something wrong?

Hello Seppe,
Any section, as well as any theme, includes only static content added there. I mean Text, Images, Sliders, Text+ Images groups, columns, etc. But all dynamic content which comes from CMS end (articles, posts, modules in Joomla) is not stored in theme or section. It is not exported along with theme or section.
So when theme or section is added to new site Joomla modules should be added to positions specific for installed theme. It should be done in Joomla admin back end.
Is it your case?

However the latest Themler versions provide option 'Include Content' when exporting template. If such template is imported you'll see option 'Import Content'. In this case theme may be exported with content.

Regards,
Aileen
