Page Background & Content Background

I am new to Themler but experienced in Artisteer and feel like I'm missing something...

I would like to have a background on all pages set to an image and then, as it was in Artisteer, have the "content" have another style of background ontop of that. One that is inclusive of the header, article & footer in order to have a seemless transition for the background image.

I can't seem to figure out how to do this in Themler...

Hi,

I assume that you are talking about the whole site background and the sheet background as it was in Artisteer.
In Themler you can add the page background using the Design >> Background. For the Header, Content and Footer you will need to set the background separately.

Sincerely,
Hella

So the answer is "No. You can't."

That sucks....

No, you can not do it the same as in Artisteer. But you can use the background for several different controls as I have suggested above.

Hella

I understand that but it won't work for my design. I need a single image represented in those fields. Putting it into each won't work as the image isn't seamless

Hello,

Could you please specify what you are trying to achieve? As I understand it for now, you can set Page Background and then set transparent background for other controls like Header, Content&Sidebars, Footer and containers.

Nettie,

I want Image A to be my background image. Behind everything in the back.

I want Image B to be situated from the header to the footer without adding it multiple times so it is one seamless photo ontop of Image A and beneath the text.

Hello,

If Image B should cover Header, Content&Sidebars and Footer, then these steps should help:
1. Remove Background from Header (and Section and Container in it), Footer (and Section and Backward Links), Content&Sidebars. Set it to No Background.
2. Add Image A as background image in the Design tab.
3. Add Container to the Template. Drag Header, CMS Content and Footer into this Container so that they are at the same level (Outline in the left panel should be helpful).
4. Add Image B as background image for this Container.

Sincerely,
Nettie,
BillionDigital Team

I cannot seem to get it to work as you describe. The content won't drag into the new container

When a page background and content background are both set to an image, it creates a visually layered effect that can add depth and artistic appeal to a webpage. This approach might help in emphasizing the design theme or highlighting specific visual elements, depending on the chosen imagery and contrast. With the right balance, it could even make the layout appear more engaging and immersive.

There’s also a chance this kind of design might attract viewers who love to get info about different popular celebrities and other famous people alike portrait artist susannah blunt blending art with storytelling in a visually appealing way. That’s a great question! Setting up layered backgrounds in Themler can be a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of the content container settings, it becomes much easier to achieve that seamless overlay effect. I’ve had a similar challenge while designing sites for estate agents Goodmayes, and using a transparent content background over a fixed page image worked perfectly. Hope you find the right balance for your layout!

Page Background: The overall backdrop of your entire project or page. It appears behind all content (text, images, videos). You can set a color, gradient, pattern, or image here. It affects the whole canvas.

Content Background: The background of a specific element or section within the page (like a text box, card, or image container). It allows you to highlight or separate that content from the rest of the page while keeping the main page background visible. https://blackfridayy.fi/

That’s a great question, Themler handles backgrounds a bit differently than Artisteer, which can definitely be confusing at first. In Themler, instead of applying a single background layer site-wide, you’ll often need to use container-level styling or page wrappers to achieve that layered effect. Try setting your global background image on the “Page” or “Body” level, then apply a semi-transparent or solid background to the main “Content Wrapper” (which includes header, content, and footer). This gives the illusion of one cohesive overlay across all sections while maintaining the global image beneath.

If you’re designing for property or business websites, this layered style can look especially professional when showcasing listings or brand imagery. For example, integrating consistent visuals with efficient backend systems can really elevate presentation and usability. You can see how this concept applies to professional rental management platforms that focus on clarity, consistency, and user experience. Visit https://propertymanagementcompany.uk/
